Utah!

Lilwanis, I will pm you :) Thanks for all that info on Houdans! That helps to know all of that. I hope ours make it and turn out short and fat and cute :) The chicks sure are cute. I am rooting for you, and your hatch to go well!

Thank you! All but three of the houdan eggs have air cells that are floating around the egg :/ I sure hope they can make it. One egg's air cell was a bunch of tiny bubbles. I don't even know what to think about that. I will hope for the best though.

Corvidae, I'd like to see some of the property your chickens are on, if you don't mind. I like seeing peoples' setups as much as I do the chickens :)  Enjoy your new camera!

Lilwanis, I wasn't aware that the Houdans are now hatchery-only. It kind of makes me want to get some to start breeding them and improve the standard.

Lisa, thanks :hugs  Just don't know what to do anymore.

Lluvia, welcome! :)  Aww, JG......I've always thought they were cool. Wish I had room in my flock for some. Whereabouts are you located?

Red, that's part of what sold me on them. They are definitely an endangered breed. I would love a local partner in crime, lol. With the U of A eggs, I had to agree not to sell the chicks that are hatched. I don't really have space for as many as I would like for a good breeding program, so if the hatch goes *really* well. Since I can only keep maybe fi e birds, if someone else wanted some and would be willing to work with me,,,that would be an ideal situation for me. This is all based on some big ifs though...

Got the camera to work, though I'm still not the best photographer in the world. Have to take 15 pictures just to get one half-decent one. Anyway, here are the Welsummers--boy on the left, girl on the right. These 2 came out pretty distinctive for gender: These are the other 2 chicks in the brooder with the Welsummers. They came from some "bonus" eggs a seller sent me. One is a Swedish Flower hen and the other is a Mille Fleur Leghorn. I haven't the faintest idea which is which, since I'm not very familiar with this breed, not do I know if they are boys or girls. Anyone know which is which? Anyone want them? I don't think I am going to have room for them, when all is said and done!
My guess, based on having followed the SFH thread for a long while, would be the blue one is your SFH and the brown one is the MFL...any other takers?

Cynthia there you are! Glad you are feeling better, I thought something must be up you have been gone a bit. Well you know we want to see your EE baby, the poofs are always fun to look at

Hey is Texas a good place to get eggs from? I am trying to line up SG eggs, STILL..... (sigh)

Yes, Texas is good..most of the time.

And, I found out that Florida is a good place! The lady that gave me the blue barred rock eggs is from Florida. I thought, oh dear..I hope these are going to be ok..all 11 that she sent are viable!

Brandi had a showgirl hatch this morning, and a marans. That's all. The houdans didn't make it.

Donna, the second picture looks like the Swedish, and the third looks like the leghorn mix. Cute! Someone should snag those up. On the Wellies, looks like one girl, one boy ey?

Cool, maybe I will get the Texas ones!

I did talk to Brandi, she said a 2 yr old boy got to the Houdans, not them passing away. at least! Either way the Houdans are having bad luck! Poor babies. So far my two are doing really good, hope it stays that way! Eek!

Donna your chicks are way adorable!

Brandi's chick :) So cute! She said she is getting more eggs for showgirls, so I am watching that girl like a hawk :D She is having about the same luck as i have had, they are tough!!

That 2nd picture might be the cutest thing i have ever seen. She should get on here and put it in a contest. I got her permission to post these, i told her we all love a cute fuzzybutt pic :)
