I told my brother I needed to go to Cal Ranch today, and the first words out of his mouth were 'don't bring any chicks home!' As if [innocent] Anyway, lucky for him, they had no chicks - all the pens were empty.

Lol, I love this....we are two in the same...I keep track of each of my girls #'s (I am a banker so I am all about the numbers too) then on top of that I even take pictures of each of my hens and catalog it with the egg they are laying for me. My husband thinks I am a nut job I swear-but he loves me anyways. Yesterday I spent four hours taking pictures of my 24 new chicks at every angle and each of their wing spans...so I can see if the whole wing sexing holds any credibility...hahahaha the fun of chickens. Here I have 24 chicks already, and I have been crusin the web all day looking for some blue and splash jersey giants...then of course I find four other breeds/color variations I can't live without . Good thing I have a husband who is handy...he's already building me another coop as we speak...it's my third
...honestly I feel like I may require a chicken intervention soon! Hahaha
BUT WOW 113 EGGS! You go girl!![]()
One of Momo's eggs has pipped! But its getting bed time so we wont see until tomorrow. GF says she will probable come in at night and find me looking into the brooder.![]()

Lisa, not to throw a wrench in the feather-sexing thing, but when I got Chuck Norris (Leghorn/EE) she looked more boyish for a while when she was a baby. I saw others that Cynthia had that had way longer feathers, but Nora's wing feathers were right in the middle. I thought for sure she was a boy until she was a couple of months old. Just my two cents.
Thank you Red!!! You are a sweet heart-I am kind of a picture geek! I love big chickens too...hahaha well I am right there with you (I love all chickens)! It's hard because no-one likes to go to the doctor, but I am glad you're getting checked out...I bet it is something simple like low Iron and then you just take an extra vitamin in the morning! I am so excited about your Icelandic eggs....only a few more days to go! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you!!!! Then I want pics!!!Haha Cynthia, thanks for adopting meI will call tomorrow, I promise. My BF's been hounding me for a while to get a check up at the doctor's, and how he's really not happy that I haven't gone
Why is it so hard?![]()
Lluvia, love your avatar! Wow, the background colors and everything are such eye candy to me. I have considered getting a BJG roo at some point, as I've heard good things about the breed. Plus, I love huge chickens (well, I love any chickens) When I went to the county fair last year and saw a couple of the big boys people had there (BO, BA) I was geeking out.
Lisa, love the stats! It's very fun to see who's doing what. I ought to make up a tracker for my girls - though it may be easier once the turkeys aren't eating themA few of my girls are hiding eggs around the yard, too. I can hear them singing, just can't find the nest(s). Brats.![]()
Doughie, your new coop looks awesome!
Okay sorry if I already mentioned this here, but it looks like three of my Icelandic eggs are still going, not two! Yaaay.
Hahaha u sound just like me, I can never resist a cute new fluffy chick! Idk where you are exactly or where you live but the IFA on 2100 S in SLC has a HUGE selection!!! I have never seen such a selection at a feed store! Yeah it roped me into a couple new additions last week.I told my brother I needed to go to Cal Ranch today, and the first words out of his mouth were 'don't bring any chicks home!' As if [innocent] Anyway, lucky for him, they had no chicks - all the pens were empty.
