AWKWARD MOMENT OF THE DAY

soooo I went to lunch with my neighbor friend. The conversation turns to chickens. She tells me how cute my chickens are. Then this:

"i am sooo glad you do not have roosters, I hate the neighbors that do that, they are so rude! I had a neighbor with a rooster once after I had surgery and that thing would wake me up every morning at 5 am and I just wanted to bawl. I could never live like that again, I HATED those people, they were so inconsiderate. You are such a good neighbor, I love our neighborhood, I hope I don't EVER have to live by people like that again."

The look on my face

NO I did not tell her about my boy out there. Obviously she has not heard him yet....now I feel really dirty and mean lol I have a feeling I might have to decide between a good friend and a sweet little roo in the making....

This made me laugh. So sorry, but after what I've been through lately, I had to snicker.

Maybe you can have your roo de-crowed.

Just checking.

Does anybody have any show quality younger Ameracauna.... not the hybrid EEs, that they would care to part with and sell (chicks and/or hens). My neighbor took mine for me, during the 'chicken drama', and I think the 3 older girls aren't laying anymore. They had slowed way down previously and are old, for breeders and egg layers. I think they are hitting retirement age. The neighbor says she's only getting 1 egg every day for the incubator. Since they run with a younger hen, I believe she's been dispensing the eggs.

Need some new Mommas to go with my young Blue Splash roo!!

Please let me know. Thanks all!!

BTW: Love everybodies calves, bunnies and cluck, cluck pics!!!

I had a great time at the animal adoption fair today. Sold 8 chickens. It was fun. Dogs, cats, chinchillas, rabbits, guinea pigs chickens. If anyone is close to orem stop by, its at animal medical services. 469 W center Orem

Corvidae i am so sorry to hear that. :hugs Ugh!
Cynthia, hope it is not too sad, and you can think of the good stuff and see some beloved's while you are there at least.

Houdans? How fun! You will LOVE the chicks, they are so stinking cute. Really, just such cute coloring :) It was easy to sell the extras too, a lot of people liked them.

Lil--hope you get a boy in your next batch, and the eggs do well. If I could find a mellow roo I would even keep one of those, I like the breed more and more. So far these are pretty quiet. I have heard that they are a bit fragile? So hoping these are hearty and do well with our winters though :) It is fun to have a few people on here that like them too :) I really really really want your eggs to hatch so we can see what the university ones look like!

Red I have spearmint too, if you want any it should be up soon. Maybe I can find a few shoots about chickenstock time and send some with you.

I feel your sadness. My Uncle died this morning.

Oh no..

It went pretty good. You had it right Lisa. It was good seeing some cousins I hadn't seen in a while. I actually have one that is going to move 4 houses behind us. And, there were some great photos, and a disc in with photos with one of his favorite songs he used to sing to the little ones at bedtime. Heard some things about him that I didn't know. It was also fun to see my Aunt and him in photos from years ago. They were good lookin kids! Boy, we change as we get older...ya think?

Thank you agreger.

sundance, glad you had fun selling animals/chickens. Sounds like a lot of people showed up. Was this advertised somewhere out there?

So I've been looking ALL OVER THE PLACE for somewhere to buy duckfood and my only option is ordering it online from Mazuri with the cost coming out to be $1 per lb after I include shipping. Should I still order it or is there some cheaper way, maybe through some bulk sales or something?
I don't have a lot of money right now, I've even had to tap into my roadtrip funds so I won't be going to chickenstock this year. Against my better judgement I tried giving them what my feedstore sold me instead, some of the chicken scratch, and they've stopped laying all together!
On top of that I've lost the little black chick with a poofy head and my word count for my novel is low for my goal. This has been a frustrating month! Can anyone help me out with getting a better deal on the duck food please? I don't know what to do.

Ugh! I'm so sorry you haven't been able to find anyone that sells Mazuri. It really is the best duck food out there, IMO. At least, that we've found. Do you have an IFA near you? They do sell Mazuri foods, maybe they could order it in?
I will be driving down to West Valley City some time on Saturday. I'd be happy to grab a bag of the food here and bring it with me. If memory serves me correctly, it's $28 after tax for 40 lbs. Then if someone else is headed your way, or if you can make it up...? Maybe Sundancen will let me leave it with her until you can get it? Just a thought. Spoiled duckies!

To everyone who has lost an Uncle/loved one, I am truly sorry.

Lisa, that's horrible about your eggs! I feel your pain. I am down to 1 Crele Wyandotte that is in lockdown, due to hatch Saturday. It had BETTER hatch and it had BETTER be a girl. I only had about 6 eggs out of 30 that were even fertile. Makes me so mad! I sent a nasty email to the breeder...this same breeder that we got 32 eggs from the first time and only 3 hatched...30 eggs this time and only 1 made it to lock down. She swears nobody else has any problem with her eggs. I'm doubtful. I'm hatching other shipped eggs left and right without any problem, well over 50%. She offered to send me a dozen free of charge. Do I do it? Part of me wants to say yes, the other part doesn't want to get disappointed again.

I had 3 of my own eggs hatch this morning. Had thrown them into the bator, just because I didn't have any eggs due to go into the bator for a couple days....yeah, I'm a hatch-a-holic. So I have 2 cute Calico cochins and 1 red cochin/crele wyandotte cross. Saturday the 1 Wyan egg is due, along with some mottled and blue mille fleur bantam cochin eggs.

Desert Springs-I'm so glad you get to keep your critters! I hope everything works out OK.

Sundance-the adoption day sounds like fun. :) Is your friend Melissa with the Aussies, the same Melissa from Moonbaby Mini Australian Shepherds?
