Utah!

These are sounding good Lisa.  Do they lay a pretty good sized egg then?  Since they are LF size?   I will have to see how yours do.  I might have to have a fun bird out there that lays well.  Most of the fun ones either lay small, or not so often.  But, speaking of fun and often, my Sweet Pea, the Favorelle, lays almost every day!  I can't believe this, and I assumed she would have gone broody by now, because my Silkies did.  I hope she doesn't go broody real often, she is perfect for me.  I just love that little stink.  So friendly too.  Houdan, will have to read up on them.  :)

The houdans are supposed to lay a decent egg. My blue Polish lays about three days in a row then one day off, and lays the same size as my other LF, quite big--then the Elvis one lays smaller. But for just starting laying it is still not too bad. Bigger than bantam size for sure--maybe just shy of a store size medium. She laid 6 in a row t hough last week. No broody Polish yet. And not so great in the cold months...and they ARE skittish, with the exception of my little black and white one I got from you. She could not be any friendlier :) She should be laying any day, lots of nest-sitting and she is really red around the mouth these days. That is awesome the Faverolle is doing well. She really is adorable!

Houdan chicks, and some Brown leghorn chicks. I have to wait until May 6th for them to be sent out though! Oh well, I have chicks hatching this month. :)

Lil--hopefully they don't take a year like my Elvis did! I am still mad at her for teasing so long. I have read about them taking awhile, but my friend in Colorado got some last year and they started for her at about 26 weeks, so I am hoping! Crossies!

Now that you mention NN''s, I think I will change my order. LOL..They aren't there now, hope they will let me. 5 little NN's instead of the Brown Leghorns. :) 10 Houdans.

Yay! More Houdans!

Oooooohhhh! I hope so! I think that is something that should,d be bread for, in addition to size. It will be I interesting to see how our girls turn out. So far, I am still pretty convinced that my three are girls. Which means indeed a boy. Hopefully there will be a boy with the next shipment of eggs and hopefully they are in better shape.

Hi everyone!!

Been working on my 'critter' shed. Huge shed that needed cleaning out from decades of past occupants filth and mice occupation. Cleaning and insulating for my brooders and incubator (and other horse, critter and gardening stuff).

Yes Corvidae, he needs more than a slapping... more like a thunk, with a hunk of lumber applied to the cranium!! He is super sweet and has a good heart but the daughters know how to manipulate him, and he absolutely doesn't see it. One day he will, or, one day I'll be gone. Just have to get more prepared if that is a necessary option. First time I've ever been dependent on a spouse, but that is because the last one stripped me of absolutely everything when I was going thru chemo..... now that's a slug!!!

Cyndiloo, thanks. They are truly a part of my life!!

Red,
My neighbor works with the cockfighter guy's brother, None of us knew it until he over heard the co-worker telling others his brother had picked up a bunch of chickens, from a woman who had to get them gone because of a horrible family dispute. He went on to say that his brother and his brother's Indian friend were getting into cockfighting.

Casa,
So sorry to hear of your hatching eggs. Ugh!!

Cynthia and Casa-
Thanks for your support however I'm not holding my breathe, as there are 4 daughters age 26 to 32. They succeeded in running the last wife off after only 4 months..ugh, and destroying their own father's and mother's marriage.

They want their Dad to themselves, point blank, to finance their wants and needs, and to jump when they demand. I can't say he is a good parent as he has failed to teach them anything about being self-sufficient or maturity!!! In his eyes, they are perfect, which is another problem. He wouldn't say **** if they filled his mouth with it. Now anybody else, he is somewhat of a bully.

The one daughter, when I met her, ignored me and directly asked her father why he needed to marry when he had them. YIKES!!!

This isn't only hard on me but also on the daughters' husband's, who forever are having to compete against their strong-minded father-in-law. Just weird!!! Very backward, I'm afraid. I love him however the admiration and adoration he has for his daughters is unnatural. It's not like they're absolutely gorgeous, attractive yes, gorgeous no!! Their personalities are the opposite, yet they've been taught it's all about what you look like. So very sad!!

I personally don't see a future for us, long term, unless the daughters get a reality check, and it's not coming from him, or me, since I get my butt chewed after the 'offended' daughter goes to DADDY and trumps up the talk we've exchanged.

My enjoyment is my horses and critters... which I'll now be focusing on until my life is in order, to open up more options. As long as I can be left alone I'll be fine. Maybe some day, this one particular daughter who is doing the most damage and taking the most advantage, will decide she doesn't want to teach dance out of our rural shop, and would rather be a wife to her poor, brow-beaten, doormat husband and a real mother to her three (didn't have time for even two) children.

I have a dream...lol. Love ya all!!
