I have been working all weekend on coop number 2 which is being called the box coop. We built a 4x8 coop that is subdivided into 2 4x4 coops with 4x8 attached runs. My birds get free run of the yard, the runs are for when we aren't here and for breeding season. I just have a little more green paint to go and pop doors to attach and the chicks can move in! I also cleaned the big girls and got the big compost pile to cooking. Next week, garden time :) which is a big weed garden right now

so the other day i was in ifa looking at the food storage products and i was shocked but they actually had de! they had two bags, the one on the bottom had a tag for $40 so i took the top bag expecting to pay that much. went to pay and the girl scanned it, said it was only $8, i told her she was wrong, she looked in the computer and said she was right. so i argued with her a bit but was in a hurry so i finally gave in. i am not one to take advantage of people. but i am very happy only paying that much seeing how i am building a run this month and am not made of money. i chalk it up to being good karma

Hey, you deserve some good Karma! Glad it came around your way..and that is a great price. Now you can us the extra money on the run. How big are you making the run?

I put on the finishing touch.
Nice job! The letters make it perfect :) Lil, you worked your butt off today whoa! I have been out doing yard work. After the long day yesterday, I had to wait up for my 17 yr old to get home at midnight, and then there was this emergency with another girl, long story, but after it was all over it was 4:30 when she got home...then I went to bed...then my boy woke me up this morning, ugh! So once I am up, I cannot go back to sleep no way, I started on the yard lol . I got a ton done today too, but not much with the chickens. I want to play with my new little babies :) I have to start work at 5:30 a.m. all this week so I hope I can set some time aside for that. They get big way too fast! I seem to never sleep until 1 or 2 a.m. so it will be interesting to see how cheerful I can manage to stay all week :D Cynthia, that is awesome the second olive egg was even better, yay!

Diana! Your frizzle/black babies went to good homes yesterday. They are with people on the Idaho thread, and we will get to see pics when they are a little bigger, so it will be fun for you to keep track of how they turn out. I was so glad they went to good homes :) !

Ok, a few pics of the Box Coop. It still has a little ways to go, but will be done before the week is out.

The Mini Coop. This one is for the chickies to get bigger in. I didn't think it was big enough for the big girls, but they like to steal the little's food in there, so I imagine I can use this for bigger chickens.

Since I was taking pictures, I thought I would do another of the Home for Wayward Chickens. We are trying to come up with a better run for it

And me at the end of the day:

thanks cynthia and lisa. not sure the exact measurements on the run but i have it planned out in my head. it is going to be on the side and front of my coop, kinda in a backwards l. it will be twice the size of my old one. and much stronger as i am doing cattle panels lined with chicken wire. and i will have lilac bushes, maybe even some bamboo around it and grapes and maybe kiwi growing on it. and my rabbits will share it. and then with the rabbits being in it the chickens will help with the rabbit droppings :)

Got most of my garden planted today. No help from the chickens. They thought i was helping them dig for worms. One hen thought it was fun to walk through the tomato cages instead of around them. Glad i put wire over the seeds. Just went out to fill the feeder for tomorrow and they were digging in the wet ditches between the wire cages looking for bugs and worms. Silly chickens.

Cotton's a mama again. Three chicks so far and 1 is hers. A cute little dark colored Silkie. I will have to get some pictures when she ain't so protective. Does any one want to buy a Silkie? I have 4 for sale.
