I got my Houdan and a Golden Laced Polish from someone who bought a bunch of Hatchery Chicks, probably thinking he could make a quick buck because all he had was exotic chicks. They were all smashed in small rubbermaid totes, and they literally couldn't move. I don't know when he go them, but they were already 3 1/2 weeks old when I got the 2 from him. The polish is flighty too, but not as bad as the Houdan. She sure is cute though. Here is a photo of the 2 today, they see a camera and they run for the hills. LOL

Not really sure if I'm going to keep her now with everyone having issues with their Houdans. But she sure is cute. They are getting better everyday, since they are moved from inside to the outside grow out pen/coop during the day, and brought back in at night.



 
Silly, if they're sexed pullets, maybe you should keep them around, with your rooster luck.

Sundance, sounds like your two chicks are perfect for fostering with mine. I'd be happy to toss them in with mine, and then give them back when they're a little older. Mine were hatched 5/22-23. Let me know how you want to arrange to get them to me.

Desert, are you still wanting one of the cockerels? I think I've found someone who wants two, but I want to give your first dibs if you're interested. I'll take pics of them in the morning and post for you if you want me to.

Yes, Cynthia, the one with the eyeliner is adorable! They are all so dang cute! Yes I was told they are sexed Pullets. But with my rate, I will be lucky if they even are

And I think the bunch that I rescued from that day care, probably is more Roo's the hens in that bunch. Unless since they were all in such a horrible condition, they are just not feathering. Only 3 have any feathers coming in at all, the rest are all fluffy butts, and there are 2 that just barely have any wing feathers and they have to be at least 2 weeks old. Still dang cute though.
 
Can you put Oxine in the water with 5 week old chicks? I'm going to get a Gallon Fountain to put outside with the babies today since yesterday it was so hot that they went through almost 3 quarts of water. I just didn't know with them being outside now if I should be putting the Oxine in their water now too. The big girls love it, I think they are drinking way more water then they did before, or it could be the heat.

I've been freezing three liter bottles and putting them in with my girls when is gets to be 80. my RIR should be laying soon, the first pullet I've raised from a chick to lay

If you want (and are able to have roos where you are at) I can bring him to you. BUT - I strongly agree with Desert Springs. You will want to quarantine him for a bit before mixing him with the flock to make sure that he isn't sick. He has seemed perfectly healthy every time I've seen him, but it's better safe than sorry.

Unfortunately i cannot have roosters around (unless there was something i could do like bring it into the garage at night or something to where the neighbors couldnt hear him crow) My neighbors are all very close to my house. My birds are from NPIP breeders all except the hen i am looking to breed (the others are too young right now) She hasn't had any problem being in contact with all the other hens (of course that doesn't mean she would be completely safe either). What would really be great is if you had a silky rooster as well. I have a bantam silkie that i would also like to breed. I'd be willing to pay you, for your efforts because of the feeding etc. Let me know what you think.
