Tylan can't be given to "laying" hens.....(the injectable clearly states that...--the powder is up for debate, I could find a withdrawal period for eggs, but found comments saying not for layers) Denegard is great but have to get it online. Does anyone in your area have some you can use? If I was closer I would sure bring you some!

You can try VetRx it is at the feed stores--directions on bottle, helps with upper respiratory. You have to warm it and rub it over their head and nasal area, and can be given in a humidifier (warm) or floated on their water (not as effective). It is something like vaporub/herbal type stuff. It would be good to try until you can get some Denegard.

Lil, did you say you were located in Fruit Heights? I have some leftover Denegard that's already mixed with water, but you would have to come get it. I won't be home for most of the evening, but you're welcome to come tomorrow to get it. Just let me know. I'll PM you.

Yay for hatching babies!

My only SBEL that is of laying age, is broody right now too.

Stinkers.

Yeah, I took the eggs she was trying to sit on. She gave me a pouty look, but she's up and walking around.

I just got a text from Desert Springs - Three of the Icee eggs I gave her have pipped!!!

Yaaaay! I hope the other two hatch for her, as well. I am crazy excited to see what colors she got! And this is so awesome, because it means that I don't have a dud flock, lol. Congrats, Desert!

Oh my word, that comic made me giggle. So did Sphinx's rooster dream.

I still need to get stuff up of the turkeys. I will try and do that today. And........I think my Leghorn-EE/SBEL/whatever she is, is broody again. Are you kidding me?

Just read Casa's comment, she's right. However you can get Denegard from a vet but they'll give your a run around, claiming it's only for swine (only in the USA is it packaged for swine
rant.gif
other countries it is packaged for both swine and chickens).

I have some to share if you want to drive the distance.

VetRx is great stuff!!! I've used it with incredible results!! Don't try to get that from a vet though; they'll look at you like you're green and have wings. It's all natural. I order that through poultry supply houses.

Good luck!!! Let me know if you're up to the drive to Duchesne.

Lilwanis, I live in Clinton and have denagard.

Lisa, I'm ROFL at you texting the wrong person. Still sad I didn't get them.

My kids have reported zombie the fbcm has hatched.

Desert/red, congrats on the Icees!!

I ran up to IFA and they only had duramycin. Bought that and probiotics, but didn't start it yet. What is the withdrawal on denegard? I am in SLC,. I sent PM's to red and sphinx. Hopefully I can connect with one of you tomorrow. She isn't having difficulty with movement and comb and eye color look good. Just wheezy and sneezy.

I wonder if that's the same person I was talking to at Chickenstock, that I thought was Sphinx

....lol.... if it is, that poor woman must be getting a complex by now

Thanks for the congrats!!! I'm thrilled... looking froward to the Legbars day tomorrow, or the next.

Update on the Icee hatch...

They have just come out of their shells
big_smile.png
, for the most part. After all day, and they had still only moved slightly past pipping, I just helped a little. They were cheeping their little chick heads off... poor things. Think the membranes had dried on them since they had taken so long to break free of it.

I'll check on them in a couple hours and report.

BTW: one looks blackish and the other two look whitish silver with dark stripes. Don't have a clue what they'll look like when they're dry

.

I'm sure they'll be up and around soon (I worry too much about these babies!!)
