, can't walk!!

Sometimes I just hate hatching time.... either blissful joy or immense heartache!!

This was the second questionable hatch although I did have 3 guineas hatch, that sold fast. A lady came to look at Welsummers yesterday and saw the guineas.... fell in love. Even the steep price I quoted ('cause I really didn't want to sell them) didn't phase her. Oh well, more guinea eggs in the inc this week!! Maybe I can make a living selling guineas....lol.

Anyone interested in a Silkie Roo, they are almost 9 weeks old. I'm not 100% positive they are Roo's, but we are almost positive the other 2 are Pullets, so we are going to re-home these 2. One is a Blue Splash, and the other is most likely a Blue Partridge, but the Silkie people said a Lavender Partridge, so who really knows.

Here is the Partridge

Here is the Blue Splash

I am getting ready to list some pullets for sale. I have to get my numbers down. I have had time enough to watch the ones I've kept, and have made decisions on the ones I want to sell.
I will have OE's
a Delaware that is older, probably a month and a half..can look up the date hatched.
A light Brahma
A BLRW, the dark blue
I will have some leghorn's hatch soon, they have the silver gene, so if you breed with a red roo, you can sex their babies at hatching. Red's pullet..white's, roos.

Speaking of leghorn's..hey Sundance...my little girl that you gave me laid her first little white egg today. A nice size for a pullet egg..of course. :) Thank you again for this sweet girl.

Where is Sasha. I have decided also, that I will let my Serama go. She is beautiful. The dark brown, then the light browns in her is just beautiful. She needs to be with smaller birds. She is sooo tiny. Probably as large as she will get, and the pen I'm keeping her in is with my bantam Favorelle, and a bantam cochin. If anyone is interested in a real cutie, and sweet..let me know.

I just had the worse panic attack. I finally decided that 8 weeks old the Silkies, the Japanese Bantam, my Silkie Mix, and then the neighbors chicks were old enough to be let out to free range. The older girls have seen them for 4 weeks in the grow out pen, and they should all know each other just fine. Of course there was a bit of running about today, but since it was so hot, no one really bothered with each other all day, they were all even laying out in the wet dirt side by side just fine most of the day. I've checked on them a million times today, and they never went down the side yard all day long, the older girls did, but the others just stayed in the back. So I just went outside to lock the coops up, and figured the babies weren't in their coop, and they are gone, no where to be found, and I saw them at 8pm when I checked on them. The big girls are in their coop, but no babies anywhere. I literally freaked out that they found away out, and walked the whole dang block asking anyone if they have seen 8 chickens. I think they all think I was nuts looking for 8 chickens. So after 2 rounds around the block checking every bush, my husband said I hear them back here. They actually went down our side yard, I never saw them there any time during the day. We currently have 5 pallets full of huge ceramic molds, and the little buggers went right between them, and borrowed in for the night. We had to literally move like 10 of them to get to where they were in the pile.

So I guess until the babies learn to go inside at night, I'm not letting them out in the side yard. I don't want to have to move huge heavy ceramic molds to get them in at night. Little monsters. It will be much nicer when my neighbor takes her 8 babies home.
