Utah!

Madchicken, I'm so sorry to hear about your Silkies

How upsetting!

Desert, that's cute about the pullet who's taken to sleeping in the food bowl.

Sphinx, I forgot to answer you last time, but yes, I gave Desert some Icee eggs to try. She now has three cute little chicks of her own

I may still hit you up for incubating at some point, but we'll see. My birds aren't separated right now, as I want to complete an isolation pen before I do that again.

Speaking of eggs, I checked most of the ones under my broodies last night. I've got two Icelandic eggs developing out of eleven, and one has a bad air cell. A lot of the eggs still have loose air cells from the shipping

How in the world do people get good hatch rates from shipped eggs?! I have a third mutt egg from my girls that's also developing nicely. I am going to be on pins and needles waiting for those Icelandic eggs to hatch! I need just one chick to survive, though more would be excellent. At this point, I think I may only get one. Day ten today.

Red inspired me to take some pictures. My tiny Serama is so cute with her huge brood and my other Tiny Serama hatched two ee chicks.picture below is mom with chicks chuckers and quail that she is raising Below is my other broody serama with the two ee she hatched Below are the colors off eggs I am getting. The tiny egg on the far right is from my pullet Auracana. Its really blue. The dark brown one is from Maude my head hen. The tan one is from my turkin and the Huge olive egg is from a hen I can't figure out. She is laying an olive egg every day bit I can't figure who she is, That big egg is almost as big as a duck egg. The white egg is from my polish einstein
I really hope 1 of my hens goes broody because I want to put some chukkar eggs under her. I love how territorial they are with other birds, since I have a big bird problem I think a few of those around here would be ideal. I want to add 2 geese to my already established flock but I'm not sure if its a good idea or not. I just love your flock!

No one is guessing if Sally went home with more than one chick from my place...guess you guys! I had the Delaware, the BLRW, and the little Blue OE she came for.

Wow, I have heard that leghorns are noisy, haven't had that so much with mine, but this girl likes to announce the mornings, and that she is about to lay! I have 9 leghorn eggs in lock down today. These will have the silver gene in them, if anyone is interested in breeding to a big red roo..then you can sex the babies. Fun.

Gary, what is going on?! I'm so sorry..not your silkies! I have a friend that has some pretty silkies, I think..want me to ask and see if she still has some. She had a pure blue..dark blue that was looking nice. I can ask. That's if you are interested in getting more. Maybe you can get a couple back from silly. So sorry! :(

Note what she says about DE for dust bathing! I have soo wondered and worried about this. I don't use it for patting it on them any longer. I let them dust bath, then if they look like they are digging for bugs, I use the spray that Lisa talked about in the past. It works fast! This is a good site on how to care for mites..buggies.

My Houdan egg squatted last night.....seems really early to me? 18 weeks Lisa?

Both of those fatheaded Maren's are broody beyond belief! I used golf balls in my nests until they became broody so I removed them and put them in the rear storage on my coop. One of the marens flew up to the storage, knocked the golf balls down onto a feed bucket...and proceeded to sit on them.

That's cute.

So I just (well about an hour ago) got home from Cynthia's. Went to get her adorable little OE, which im very excited for. Well she is a very persuasive lady. Anyone care to guess how many I came home with?...

Anyways Cynthia, it was very nice to meet you

So fun meeting you..and some of your family. Nice folks! Of course...we are chicken people. :)

I'm going to be posting a few pictures through out the day. Havent posred many lately. I've made some adjustments to the area I keep my chickens in. So far I've added a misting system and vinal inserts on the chainlink fence. My girls absolutely love it so far. Not to mention itmakes me feel better that my girls aren't so dang hot.

reba and daisy (got from Cynthia) were very talkative this morning and decided to scream it from the rooftop (literally) lol.

my head hen bach bach, she is the loudest and most talkative out of all my girls.

this is the corner I've been working on. Has a misting system along the back of it. I still have A LOT more vinal to put in but I can only afford so much at a time. They love this corner especially since the grape vine is over there.

the shaded corner is what I call it. Misting system and all sorts of shade over there.
