Has your silkie roo started to crow yet? 

Nope not yet. I t has got to be a boy though, there were two from this same hatch, and this one is much bigger and has had red in the comb and around the mouth for some time, the other one is very petite and no red. Very nice ones Toe spacing is nice, and he is/was born a pure white, not yellow white. They don't make a peep so I don't know when he finally crows what it will be like. I will try to get some pics during the day tomorrow, he is about full grown size I think. There is 1 black sg, 1 white SG, 4 white silkies and 1 blue partridge silkie. I am pretty sure the black SG is a girl, and the white SG is a boy, the white one is getting the wispy longer feathers on the head like my other boys have had. And the hairdo looks like the wind is blowing it back. The black one that I think is a girl is nice and rounded and no wispy feathers. Hair like a pom-pom so far. Crossies.

Geez Sundance what a mess. You really do have a great attitude about it.! Hope the rest goes along smoothly and you make it back safe and sound.!

I have two white SG's right now..babies.  Hoping I get a girl.  Lisa, if one is a boy..would you be interested?  I know you are wanting whites.  These are the ones that I showed you with the nice long fluff on the necks, some of the siblings.  Remember?  
  Anyway, I have the 10 in the bator now, that could be white, black, or splash.  She shows a splash SG..oh my goodness, those are pretty. 

Thanks for asking! I do not want anymore male showgirls for now, so far I really like my paint boy and just want one of that breed. He is getting noisy, but I just love the polka dots so we are trying to tough it out. Are these eggs you have cooking from RIRJen? She has some really cute hens.

Well I got a bit of a surprise tonight. One of my "cockerels"............is a girl. I'm 95% sure that this little one is a pullet, and boy is she pretty. I've been watching her and have noticed that her legs, comb, and waddles are smaller, and there are no pointy feathers. I could be wrong and this is actually just a late bloomer, but the brother chick that hatched with this one has got bigger feet and legs, a much more noticeable comb, and very obvious pointy feathers coming in.

Silly, that is so awesome that they let you take the uneaten fruit. My chickens and cows would LOOOOOOOVE that. I wonder if I could get my kids' school to let me do that.... Home grown eggs that are unwashed are good for a couple months at least. I try to get mine eaten within 3-4 weeks.

Seriously a couple of months, and I didn't wash them, they are all clean looking, I just through them in the egg carton. Do I need to wash them before I break them open to cook with? We haven't actually dared eat one. hahaha....

And is this good feed? Its just so cheap, and I would love to get it to mix with my all flock. This was on KSL Just don't know enough of what chickens should eat.

Silly, not sure on the feed. Seems like it'd be good. You'd want to make sure you had calcium available to them as free choice.

Red, which chicken do you think may be a pullet? Pictures?

If we're going to talk blown out tires, we were on our epic trip in June and blew out a tire in the pouring rain on the highway in Northern CA. We were trying to change it and our jack just wasn't working. Lucky for us, a CHiP showed up a few minutes later and let us borrow his.


Ugh, I am so grossed out you guys. I was tucking my birds in last night, and my silver penciled hamburg pooped in front of me. WORMS. How does you guys treat them? I was leaning towards safeguard, but I HATE the idea of figuring out weights and dosing individually.
