Good news. Its not my little splash thats crowing, its the other silkie that i allready knew was a rooster. Still not sure about the splash. Its smaller then the rooster but is the boss of the 2. They are always together.

Yay! If it makes you feel better, turkeys will duke it out all the time, no matter their gender. At least, mine have. The two poults I have now (male and female, I think) will compete over everything, and usually the female wins.

Okay, short rant post here. The BF talked to his lawyer last night, and is pretty much being hung out to dry. They don't care what his near-ex has been doing at all, nor that she is hiding things. I am feeling very upset right now, especially because I'd love to go plaster her name everywhere and slander her, but I won't. I refuse to resort to that. But I am feeling mighty hopeless and that justice in our land has died

Got started on my qauil coop today. This is just the run part. Its 2' x 5'. I think that should work for 5 qauil? some of the girls had to check it out.

i dont know whats up with my girls lately. as some of you know i built a new coop last year and did not get the run built until this year and until the run was built they were stuck in the coop for the most part (its a big coop with tons of lighting and fresh air and they were fine, got along totally fine and all that but now they have the run and they are not getting along as well. its crazy to me. normally its the other way around. my girls are just crazy i guess

I thought you were going to say that your girls weren't laying real well right now. Mine haven't been, but are picking up again. Weird, not sure what that was all about. I wonder, about the amount of daylight..it's still light enough out for them isn't it? Long enough?

i dont think its the light that is causeing the laying issue for your girls. my best guess is its due to the storms we have been having and maybe even the fires.

So I took my BO, NN, and BLRW out of the grow out pen today and put the Bantam's out with the Speckled Sussex. That Speckled Sussex is at least 6 weeks old now, and it hasn't grown, my NN/SG and my Light Brahma and some of the Bantams are either the same size or bigger then the Sussex. Is this normal. I don't know why she isn't growing at all. She's fully feathered, eats and drink great. But is not growing. Are they really slow developers?

As for the other 3 being put out with the big girls... I was so surprised, there was no chasing, pecking or ordering around. I was so shocked. Then again they have been outside in the grow out pen since the middle of July, so I guess everyone is used to each other. And they even followed the big girls into the main coop. I thought if they were outside I would put them in the other coop for their first few nights being out of the baby coop. But nope they were perched up with the big girls. So that was an easy add to the main flock.

Anyways the bantams loved being outside with all the freedom. I actually decided to leave them outside in the coop tonight, since it will be 70 and there is 10 of them out there to keep each other warm. I hope they will be okay. If they seem stressed in the morning, I will bring them in tomorrow night, but I just got home and they were actually in the coop with the sussex sleeping, so I figured they would be okay, closed them up, and just left them.

Love it~! Heck ya that is plenty big...these quail are like rabbits, so you know you might end up with a few more than 5 lol! So funny. Now if I hatch out more extra hens that grow out a bit I will let you know, you could have a few more for sure What are friends for, right? (Getting your chicken numbers out of control, that is the answer, right Cynthia?... Blu? Phoenix?) Ha ha Red, I want to come down there and smack that lawyer upside down. He seems like he is not your BF's advocate at ALL. Really he is being such a dope! Hugs to you. I know this is killing you. Try to keep your chin up and distract to other things! That is so awesome they are getting along so splendidly! Funny how sometimes it goes so well, others not so much. I bet your chicks will be fine through the night, especially with that many Not sure on the Sussex breed...but I have had other breeds do that and not had great luck...failure to thrive type issues, just not eating or drinking well. I hope that is not the case with your Sussex. Have you tried vitamins or anything? Seems like mine don't make it to 6 weeks, though, it usually happens within the first few. So maybe that is a good sign? I hope so!
