Utah!

Just great, I go outside to see if the EE laid a nice blue or green egg since I see her out and about, and the other EE is in the same box. Well here's to hoping that they both are laying, and there is at least one blue egg in there. lol Now I just have to wait for her to get out. I didn't want to bug her since neither has laid an egg yet, and she is just sitting in there so calmly that I didn't want to disturb her.

Isn't it funny how when one starts laying, they all decide it's a great time to start?

So, I'm not sure yet, but I think I may have another cockerel that could be a girl. This one's an EE that I got from Sundance as a chick, and I just love him. But the more time goes on, the less he looks like a boy and the more he looks and acts like a pullet. Egck, I'm losing my touch. Here I was priding myself on being able to tell the gender on EE's and Am's so much of the time, and now one of my "boys" has me second guessing myself. Oi.

Also, kind of funny - I let my "naughty" girls free range last night, but that required putting our gimpy BR roo into a carrier until they were done so that there wasn't anything going on.......ahem........Anyway, I put him back with his usual crowd last night, and this morning I found an egg in the carrier he was using. I've seen him crow. But I was like, "Lenny laid an egg!"

(I really don't think it was him)

Hey guys. I am looking for some baby chicks.... and I was wondering if anyone has any of these breeds they would be willing to sell me? I would LIKE sexed chicks, but at this point it doesn't even matter that much.... Please send me a message if anyone has some! Thank you...!

Picture Overload ~

Ok, time for some chuckles. The SG's look so funny while growing up into their all glory.

I was posting some on fb so Brian could see them, and my DH walks up behind me, sees this photo and asks, what's that?! He just laughing! I said, it's my SG..they look kind of funny while growing up. He asks, that's yours? Where is it? It's out in the nursery. :D Hopefully some side views of her are a little ... ummm cuter.

Poor dry neck.

This one is from the same ladie's eggs I bought, she gave me some free after only having the one hatch..this one is going to be a pretty white too.

Have to show off my Large Fowl cochin. She is still growing, going to be beautiful.

Her name is Dolly, and she knows it. :)

Got a good shot of her feathered legs and feet, just missed her face.

Hangin with the Turkin, her best bud, and there is a RIR up front. A RIW in the back.

the shogirl is adorable! Your chickens are lookin great!

I finished the qauil coop. I think it might be to big. But now looking at the picture i could probably split it in the middle, and add another nest box on the other side. and and get a different color. But thats just a thought. It still needs painted.

Adillydally, I have four French black copper marans that I hatched on Tuesday. They're for sale. I want to give their mama more time with them. I think silly may have wanted two of them, but I'm not sure.

Cynthia, your Cochin is gorgeous. Love her. Your showgirls...... Well, I'm sure they have very nice personalities.

Desert, be very careful not to allow yourself to be taken advantage of. I would never expect someone to drive to pick up a bird I wasn't happy with. That whole situation you described smells funny. Also, while you're hatching out birds from show quality stock, not all chicks will be show quality. People have to understand that. I wouldn't offer refunds because they didn't like how a bird looked. I don't think I'd take any birds back- that is how you'll have illness introduced to your flock, which would be terrible for you.

Thanks Sphinx for the advice (I've received several of the same comments on PMs from other people who follow this thread, and a lot of emotional support for those who know me directly, and have done business with me. They realized the stress it caused, me thinking I had illness in my flocks and the following state of exhaustion I found myself in shortly after, from lack of sleep, worrying). It was truly a learning experience, and has changed many policies I had in place previously. Ex: absolutely no one is allowed past the front chick shed, even after being disinfected, and my friendliness has been diminished. I had also been considering having a Chickenstock of our own here in Utah. That thought has now been nullified.

The individual has already responded in a PM, and actually slammed me for giving him a refund. Guess some people you just can't please. However since this is my business, I just wished everyone to know my stock was not ill.

Those that were brought back were kept far apart, placed right into the culling pen, away from any others. Matter of fact, had to build that pen since I didn't have any to cull at that time; my extra roos weren't old enough to even be placed there.

I will drop this subject, as the facts have been stated and the outcome has been explained. Furthermore, no names have been mentioned and I don't have the time to re-hash this out, since I'm working from sun up until almost midnight, daily. Best I get back to work.
