Ok then.. im a liitle behind. Welcome to BYC!!!

It is ridiculous. I have many chicks. I need no more. But I keep hogging them all and saying I can't let any of them leave my sight. They are so dang cute, and each is just a little different, so I really want to see "how they turn out"! I need to rehome some, maybe if I can do it a chick or two at a time, I will be able to muster up the courage......sheesh I should stop hatching. I have a bator full again, and the fertile eggs are sitting on the counter....calling out my name....hatch us!! hatch us!! you know you want to see what we will look like!!! I need phsychological help, truly.....the hatching really needs to stop.

One of my quail hens jumped out oft he hutch today when I opened it and took off! Ergh! I chased her and then as she figured out how to fly, the chase was over. I got a good workout in the neighbors field, I am sure I looked like a fool. So now, I am looking at the quail eggs, sitting next to the chicken eggs, and I can swear I hear tiny voices....

If you have a box with holes or an animal carrier you can transport them in your car

And reading this makes me think to myself, do I really want an incubator? I would be begging for eggs all the time. Sorry about your Quail flying off on you. But I do have to agree the little SG/NN are awesome

I am not at all KEEN enough to do all of this. So I will simply let you guys do this and I will buy them off of you. Just tell me what to do.
Our neighbors literally walked over 2 chickens in hands and said "Here, have some chickens for your bugs"
They were done laying, but we built them a coop and loved on them. And they started laying again!!!!

We were doing so well and then we saw a HAWK flying over head and we knew.... :-(

We will certainly be more vigilant. But at the same time, what can we do to prevent this? I want them to run free!

I saw a hawk flying pretty low today just a block over. I almost went out and put my girls away into the run. But, this was a big hawk. The ones I worry about are those darn Coopers hawks! Fast little stinks, and very brazen!

I also have chicks or chickens. I live in Spanish Fork. I have this very popular meeting place in Orem when I sell chicks..Winco.

I have an EE that is around 8 weeks old. She has blue and gold in her.

I have that little blue Sizzle that I posted today. She is very small. So, would go into that bin you talked about with any other chicks you get if you decide on it. I have a lot of eggs in that darn bator right now. Just set more silkies...Hey GARY...The gal that sold me the eggs that Cotton came from, sent me some of her eggs! 20 of them! And, I have some Serama eggs set.
I have some leghorn eggs set, Silver Laced Wyondotte eggs set, Gold Laced Wyondotte, and, one LF cochin that is doing well.... and some sexlinks set. Buff sexlinks. Love them for egg laying!

Thanks for the BIG WELCOME! I am going to wait a bit to hear back from Lisa as she responded first.
But I would love love love a set of Silkies if and when they are ready.

Our HAWK moment occurred with a huge jack that was perched in the tree at the end of the property. We knew something was wrong when we saw it and we sent the dog in search of the chickens. No luck.

As for the rest of everything you said I understood LEGHORN.... and SEXLINKS..... Everything else went way over my head.
This chicken thing happened by accident. And I am just now learning.

Just so you know the extend of it, For the entirety of our 2 hens they were Goldie (The brown one) and Pepper (the Pepper Colored One...).
And the Lonely chick came from a shady shady place and I think we took the pair of chicks almost as a rescue mission. We were so scared for them. But I think the one that left us may have been a sickly from our day one with him. However... Chick #2 is doing just fine. I just feel bad she (crossing my fingers for a she) is alone.
