Utah!

Where is everyone getting their feed and about what are you paying for it? Does anyone have a good source for bulk layer mash? I just got a ton of a three/four grain mix from Delta for $9/50 lbs. I just cringe at what CAL/IFA charge.

Well if you know of anywhere in Northern Utah County, let me know. I usually go to IFA or Cal Ranch. Sometime if I'm out and about I stop off at Lindon Nursery, but its all about the same price everywhere.

Took some photos of my SLW for Tell today. Got some of my Blue OE. She is so pretty. Stiil
young, should start laying next month though.

My OE and EE in the back ground. Nice muff and beard going on, the both.

My blue OE, and a real pretty red sex link that laced out nice. Too bad I didn't catch all of her.

My EE..nice muffs. Love it. I call her Sparkle because she is so sweet and looks like she is
giving you a sparkle of a smile when she looks up at you. Not laying yet, but hopefully
by next month.

How much does Lindon nursery sell it for? I always get mine at Cal Ranch because the place down in Spanish Fork (Leland Mills?) is too far for me to go for chicken food. I have a lady locally that sells chicken food on KSL sometimes, but it's 4 grain and my ladies pick what they want out and don't eat the other stuff so it seems wasteful.

yes kimmy..I love the straw in the winter only. I do have a tarp over the run, but the wind is so strong here at times, that when it is snowing and windy, it gets in the run. The straw keeps it less muddy..no mud! I don't use it in the coop, just the run. And thank you..I love my ladies. :)

I'm so proud of my ladies today!! They laid 4 eggs today and 3 yesterday. I only have 7 chickens. I know my EE isn't laying yet unless she is laying under the coop and I can't see them. I wish I could find out. She likes to go under there. But I was happy to get 7 eggs in two days. This hasn't happened in forever. I am happy with my chickens. They make me so happy. Living in the country again has been quite an adjustment for me and where it is so quiet and my husband works late. It's just me, the dogs and my chickens. So it helps to have these chicks for company to take care off and so forth. YEA!!!

My wife took the dog to the vet so I used the opportunity to clear the cute little decorations off our kitchen counter and replace them with my incubator. She wasn't to excited but once I explained it was only for a few days as I worked on better understanding how to control the humidity she gave me that half consenting look. Love that girl.

Feed: I buy my feed from Cache Commodities in Ogden. It seems like I pay $13 for a 50 lb bag of layer.

Melisa, Congrats on your girls laying so well in the wintertime.

I picked up another incubator today. It's a basic farm innovations bator- plastic wrapped styrofoam, and it came with an automatic turner AND a candler. Woot!

6kids, what kind of incubator do you have?
