Utah!

Thanks everyone. The guy i sold the roo's to wont answer my text or calls. Makes me wonder what he wanted them for. They are to small to eat. Oh well. Maybe i should just concentrate on my Silkies and use my RIR hen as a broody since she is on her second brood in less then 8 months. I still have one of Rusty's sons but he is a BSL and judging by his size at his age he didn't get the bantam gene.

Sphinx i also have a wild bird problem. i have a couple bird feeders that i keep full of the cheap bird feed from wall-mart hanging in the trees close to the coops. i also have a couple suet baskets hanging up also. it doesn't stop them but seems to help a lot.

I find dead birds in my coop all the time. I wonder if my rooster chicks are fighting them away from their feed. I never thaught of hanging a feeder up.

gary i am sorry :( that is a good question. seeing as he can have roos i question how many he needs and why cant he produce some himself? tell my girls go after birds and it would not shock me that yours are doing the same. any animal that goes into their run/coop get attacked, even cats and dogs. but they are very protective of the rabbits that share the run :)

I have two cockerels that are protective of the hole flock. I'm not supposed to have them but I am waiting to see if we are moving for sure to get rid of them. Mad chicken if we don't end up moving I will give you my rooster. I will get pictures today for you.

Tell, that boy is getting purty. :) I think madchicken is wanting another little bantam RIR roo.

Hey Gary, you will just have to order some eggs from luckypickens. She has those. They are nice too!

Just set those eggs from Ace. Altogether now I have 43 in one bator, 15 in another starting to hatch from Sphinx. 58 eggs....what was I thinking? Needless to say If anyone wants chicks.....we will have SBEL 1st generation, SBEL 2nd generation for sale. I think the others are mostly spoken for but there will be just a couple for sale of the OE, FBCM, Icelandics, and some possible mixes from Ace. I hear cheeping and the eggs from Sphinx are not due until Monday. It seems like mine always hatch early, so I lowered the temp .5 this time around to see if that was the prob. I guess not? Any other ideas why they keep hatching early?

Silly--you know how you were worried about your eggs dipping to 95? My bator came unplugged and when I found out they were at 77 degrees, I was SO Worried! I think it was unplugged for 4 hours. I candled two days later and they were all still moving....so 95 should be no problem at all. I really don't have problems with hatches that have dipped pretty low, but I definitely have had problems with batches that spike to hot.
