Utah!

Tell, cute babies! I'm glad you got some.

Silly, hang in there. You'll get some chicks, yet! It sounds like they're doing great, in my unprofessional, non-expert opinion.

Cynthia, I loved the duckling video. So cute!

Kimmie, I would totally help you with your chicken train needs if I had some time right now. Sorry!

Has anyone here actually taken one of their chickens to bed with them? I know, weird question, but humor me

Sometimes in the early morning, I can hear my girls outside and think, "Oh, if only I had a chicken diaper and knew that you were nice and clean, I'd want to snuggle you......"

I seriously do have a couple that like to sit with me, at least for a few minutes.

Desert Springs, how's your hubby? I wish I lived closer so that I could come help you with things.

Brian - I totally forgot to say: You're moving!! You'd better keep in touch with us on here! You be safe and enjoy the sunshine when you go.

I'd done it a time or two when I was keeping a pet hen in the house. ;) It's a bit tricky, but I found if I wrapped her very loosely in a towel she'd just lay there and be content to let me snuggle long enough to doze off. I could calmly tuck her away in her own bed when I felt like I was really going to fall asleep so I wouldn't have to worry about a chicken running loose in the house when I woke up. the towel made any potential clean up easier but I never had any problems.

...clean chicken I was already keeping in the house, so why not? :lau

Shirlee! Haha! She lucked out and got the best home ever. I miss her. I still have her sister LaVerne, these were the first two chickens I got from Cynthia. I think I will keep LaVerne forever, she still lays awesome eggs! Is Shirlee still laying?

You guys are hilarious with the chickens in the house. My 5 year old all last summer would bring the Houdan in the house. She would sneak her in her bedroom. I would always find her in there with her. She loves that chicken, I'm glad she made it through winter, at least its getting warmer. She was the only one I was worried about going into winter. Hopefully nothing ever happens to that chicken.

So last night and this morning of turning the eggs, once I put them down they roll like they can't sit where I placed them. Is this normal? The last ones didn't do this, so I would just place them back how I had them. We are at day 17 people, I'm getting nervous and super excited, I think we might have some chicks soon, praying I get the humidity right this time. I will probably really truly cry this time if they don't make it.

Lisa - None of my birds are laying right now, probably because I don't have a light for the coop... Something I've been meaning to get around to correcting... A rogue rabbits chewed through the last cord, and I've been so wrapped up with rewriting my novel that I keep forgetting about it on the very rare occasion I go to town. I've never been good at running errands, even when I'm not being distracted by random snippets of dialogue demanding my attention. I'll scatter reminder notes all around the house and get busy on that when I get back from a trip to grandma's this weekend.

But on all other accounts, Shirlee is doing great, and she was the one who'd kept laying without a light the longest. :D I think I'd keep her around for a pet even if she wasn't laying, I'm sentimental like that, and the fact she once survived a dog attack the wiped out the flock has some emotional value to me.

HELP…. I just went outside to give the girls a snack of bananas and apples, and my Hokey Pokey didn't come running. So I walked into the coop thinking maybe she was actually in the nest box, and she was still up on the top roost. She had both her wings completely spread out. So I got her down, and put her on the floor and she falls right over. So I brought her in the house, and looked her over, and I can't see anything wrong, and she is not coughing or sneezing or anything. I stuck her in a dog crate lined with paper towels and gave her food and water. And she is just laying there, so I tried to see if she can stand but both her feet are curled in a fist, so I spread them out and placed her back down, and she falls head first. She is now just laying in the crate, but she is talking, up a storm. Just quiet little chatting. Help what can I do.. I don't' know what is wrong with her, and I love my NN/SG polka dot outside I just want to cry. She was 100% fine yesterday.

HELP…...

Karen, post it under illness..see what others think..I haven't ever seen this!

And, good luck!

SIlly, do you have any vitamins> a little sugar in the water if not vitamins, every little bit helps. I hope she makes it through! a little scrambled egg or yogurt for protein....

No idea what would be wrong, with no respiratory illness signs, wonder if she ate something or got into something...any blood in her poop?

I know how much you love her. I do have three more that are just like her, I would be glad to share another one, I am coming your way Monday. But hopefully this girl will make it through and we won't have to be sad!
