Well, hit me up with a friend request then, Brian. I didn't realize there was much interesting in the chicken world on fb. I'm in a couple groups, but none that couple possibly replace this bunch.

no this place is way better then facebook when it comes to chickens lol. Im glad I joined this group or I would never have had the pleasure of meeting you all:)

Good morning all. I have a funny story for you, that only my fellow chicken people could understand. Yesterday, my three year-old woke with a kink in her neck. Poor thing was in a lot of pain. My first thought when my DH told me was, "Oh no! I hope she doesn't have Marek's!" I had a major panic thinking my child had Marek's for a moment, then I realized that she is not a chicken. I had to laugh a bit at myself over that.

In chicken news, I have my first broody hen. No rooster, so no eggs for her to hatch, but cannot get her out of the nest box for anything. Take her out the back and she runs around the front and right back in. She plucked herself bald on her belly too. I keep telling her that there is no purpose to her laying on eggs but she won't listen. I thought I had broke her, but she is back again today...

You really must find that gal some fertile eggs!! I have my first broody of the year that is really serious... most of them bail when I move them into the broody pens.. this australorp has earned a dozen icelandic eggs due to hatch in a week though!!!

Did it again. I brought home a little Polish that was being stomped on at the feed store. They let me have her. She seems to be perking up better than the duck did..still alive and have been home for over an hr.

My poor DH! Went to the drs. office for him today. His left foot started hurting a couple of days ago. Started swelling noticeably by yesterday, and last night he was in a lot of pain. I looked up gout..this morning it was way swollen. Yep, doc says gout. I hope this only happens once for him. Sometimes that's all that happens, or they will get it once in a great while..flare up...but some folks, like a guy we know, has it happen every single month. It is so painful. The dr. gave DH a type of anti inflammatory that shoots for the joints. Hope it works quick for him. :/

Cynthia--Your hubby can drink some mallow weed tea for gout. It's supposed to bring great relief from pain. Kind of hard to find fresh mallow weed foliage (though I think I've seen some in the produce section of Smith's Marketplace) this time of year, but if you find some plants in your yard you can use the roots.
There is info in the section on Gout at http://www.butterflyexpressions.org/Herbal/PracticalUses.pdf#search="mallow gout"

Celery seed essential oil is also helpful. You can buy it inexpensively through butterflyexpress.net & get it in 3-4 days.
