Oh boy oh boy oh boy. I am so excited

I found a Blue Copper Marans Rooster unrelated to my hens.

I can put him with my barred rocks to get sex linked blue and black chicks. I can put him with my blue barred legbar cross to get blue/black/splash sex linked chicks (AND they will lay olive eggs!). I can put him with my FBCM to get blue or black copper marans babies....I can put him with all my olive eggers and ameraucanas to get more olive egger babies....and if I put him with my Blue Ameraucana I could get blue/black splash OE babies! (I think I have this all right, I have been picking brains of the experts to be sure!) I am so excited! He is going to be one busy boy lol. I hope it works out! Crossing fingers....

Wow, if it works, I want a blue copper maran. Sounds pretty fine to me.

So I couldn't stand it, I just had too. So when I did my 2nd rotation today, I decided to take a quick peek. I have 34 veins, and the others I couldn't see into. Every single one that I could see into had a vein but 2. But its only day 3. There are 43 in there. OMG, if they all hatch out. Wow! I'm so excited. Come on little babies, grow!

That is awsome Lisa. Do the blues lay the really dark eggs. The cukoos marin eggs tend to be lighter

Seems to me that overall the blacks are the darkest. My cuckoos have never laid very dark. Never had a blue, but there is a breeder by Boise that does the blues and the eggs look really nice and dark. -...I love my blacks, but (wow) I have a lot of black chickens lol. Will see! It would be fun to have some different colors...I am getting some wheaten Marans at chickenstock, I wonder what the babies would look like from those with the blue rooster? Also I was chatting with Michelle, I have a golden cuckoo Marans from her, and it would make sex link babies too! She lays really dark and big eggs I would love to keep her genes going for sex links.

PS Don't forget I would love a frizzled turken if you get those two mating!

She is in the pen with him but I haven't seen her lay yet. They are unhappy because all the chickens are use to free ranging and don't like being in a run. Where is the link for chicken stock?

I was looking at my mostly empty incubator and decided I needed a smaller one for the time when I hatch few eggs. I just bought a Brinsea that holds 20 eggs I think. When it gets here I think I will move the hatch a long eggs to it.

My webcam is up and going!

One of the fbcm hatched before I had time to set up the camera. I've been really busy today, and when I last checked, it was the tiniest pip of a pip. I didn't think anything would happen til tomorrow.

You should go post your cam on the hatch a long..it's slow right now after everyone has given their numbers. Something to do for those while waiting.
