Utah!

Dang it. I posted pics of my (sexed!) leghorn and it seems everyone agrees it's a roo. I am just striking out! So does anyone have any juvenile pullets for sale? Just probably 1, I wanted to add 5 chicks this year and with 3 cockerel looking chicks I'm down to 4. I really wanted a leghorn to add some different color with heavy laying.

I will have hopefully around 30 chicks hatching for the Hatch Along. I have 3 Leghorns in there, 2 Welsummers, not sure on the EE's, and 10 Ameraucana's, and 11 Olive Eggers right now in there, not sure what I will be pulling out tomorrow with candling. But if you want any let me know.

And I was told I should put at least my OE in get this....like a tomato or strawberry plastic container from the store, and the kicker is CLOSE IT SHUT. OMG, I've been LMAO with that one.

So I have one Strawberry right now, so I'm really trying to think if I even want to try that. I can just imagine them hatching in one, I could probably only but 4 in there. So I guess I'm back to square one, because I would need a lot of those and my bator is pretty full still. I was thinking of maybe getting cardboard and making a plus sign and divide them that way.

Any thoughts on that?

Karen, when they said plastic fruit container, I was picturing the green ones..that don't have a lid!

And oh yeah, noooo cardboard! There is a real hot element in there, what if a chick bumped it up onto it? Danger Danger Will Robinson! :D

Sadly, the comb on my BLRW is much more defined and its only maybe 3 weeks old. :(

Anyone interested in giving this little one a new home?

I know I was totally thinking of the open green ones. That's why when he said snap it shut, about starting laughing so hard, my kid thought I was nuts. I don't know what to do about it, because really I'm worried about the plastic on in there too, its kind of tall.

And I have wigglers. HeHe. Trying to decide if I should candle tonight, and just lock them down or wait till tomorrow, we are at 17, but the last 2 rotations, they are moving. Really worried about getting my humidity up there. Its been hoovering around 16-20 all wells are full and I have a huge sponge in there, unless that stupid gauge isn't working, I'm going to throw in the reptile one. I've left it out the whole time because there wasn't that much room.

Karen..if its the OE's from Wendy they should be easy to tell apart from the rest. All the ones i have hatched are blueish black with a white underside. Not sure of the Ameraucanas, but i think they are chipmunk striped as well as the Welsummer's. The Welsummer chicks will have yellow legs and the Ameraucana's will have slate legs. I think this is correct? But you could always ask Cynthia since she is the pro at chick colors.

Yes, they are all from Wendy, so they will all look like little Maran chicks? Well I just want to know for sure which ones are my OE, the others my friend is going to take what she wants and then they are for sale. I will probably keep a few of the Ameraucana's that she doesn't take to watch, because I'm thinking the 3 from Red are all Roo's. They are starting to get really really red.

One of them is going out to a 3 acre property out in Lehi, That one has wattles coming in and everything, and so I think it will be a good home for him. Going to one of my Girl Scouts. So I will get updates, so the other 2 that are staying here I'm praying are girls.

I just quoted myself. Blahaha. Well I knew that the Welsummers are striped, and the Leghorns should be all white, and then I knew that the Americaucanas were striped, so I didn't know about the OE, but I guess I will just have to sit and watch them all.

Well if they all look like that, I will for sure be able to tell them apart, I wasn't sure if they would hatch and look like every other EE. I just can't wait, a bunch of puffy cheeks, and fuzzy butts.

A lot of people have recommended that, actually. I haven't tried it myself, but many people have found it to work! Crazy as it sounds! I'm with everyone else, though. You should be able to tell the little fuzz butts apart... :)
