Utah!

Whats lockdown referring to? Sorry, im a newbie when it comes to the incubation stuff, as ive never done it before... yet ;)

This is when you stop turning. If you have had a turner in, take the eggs out, turner out...lay the eggs on their side, or put them in a carton, which ever you prefer, and raise that humidity up to 57 to 62%. Once you get that humidity staying pretty good, don't open that lid again. Not until the babies have hatched. Here is a photo of some of my Missing In Action eggs in lock down. Pretty much all that are going to hatch, have by now..still waiting on a couple. I like to use the kitchen rubber counter stuff..makes for an easier clean up.

Check out those beautiful air sacs...NOT! I am lucky to have 10 babies right now. These
are the eggs that were out for 7 full days! Only supposed to take 2 .. 3 at the longest to
get to you when shipped.

I don't think anyone answered you so I will try! Lockdown is when you stop rotating your eggs during the last three days of incubation. You don't want your chicks to hatch out in one of the automatic turners as it could harm or kill the chicks, so you remove the turner and place the eggs on their side and 'lockdown' the incubator by not opening it again until you have fuzzy chicks to pull out.
Thanks! That sounds exciting :) I am seriously thinking about breeding when my babies when they are ready.

Lisa, I love your penguins :)

Would anyone fairly close to me like some fertile turkey eggs? They are Black Spanish x Bronze.

On a side note, I hate my incubator. Dang thing spiked to 103 last night, and now won't get above 98. Think I may end up buying turkey's again this year :(

That's fantastic, congrats Cynthia!!

Red, if it were a month earlier, I would be jumping on your offer so fast it'd make your head spin. But, I'm leaving May 13 for two weeks, and won't be around to babysit the eggs at all, which makes me a bit nervous. Maybe next year?

Thank you Iluvmysilkies!! The kids picked out the name Ebony for her and she fits right in! they hardly took a second glance at her they thought she was just part of the flock :D

Anyone in Southern Utah breed Ameraucanas? I live in Vegas but am heading to Cedar City next weekend and have several broodies begging for fertilized eggs. Please help. We don't have many breeders down this way.

ETA: I will also be heading to Hatch, so can travel a bit for good eggs. I've had no luck with shipped eggs so I'd rather see what I can gather "locally" ....
