Utah!

Is there anybody here in Cache Valley who has button quail eggs? or knows of any I can buy immediately?? My lady to ship gave me the run around and then refunded me this morning saying, "my partner dropped the eggs sorry". I'd also take Texas AM coturnix...

Thanks in advance!
There was a lady on KSL about a month ago selling some chicks. I bet you could get some eggs from her.

I just got my first ever chicks a few weeks ago, and already I feel like this whole chicken way of life could completely take over! :) I love it!!! Last night we ran into an old friend of my hubby's and he introduced me to him as his crazy chicken lady :D I will take that title and wear it proudly! But I want more! I want to go to shows and conventions and everything! Not necessarily to show my own ( yet) but just to be around chickens and other crazy chicken people. :). But I don't know when or where or how to find out when and where this kinda stuff is happening. So other crazies...I need the down low, please. When and where is this happening? Thanks!

when do i need to take the chicks out of the incubator. they are up and moving a little bit. the newest one is about 2 hours old. and still wet. do i need to take out the shells and bad eggs so they have more room. 1 is still zipping and 1 looks like it might have stoped. its just a little Brinsea.

I just leave my in there with everything until they are all done hatching and all dry. They are fine in there. My last hatch I had 37 eggs in there and they hatched over 2 days, so I did pull the ones out that was over 8 hours or so old or that was completely dry and took out some of the eggs, because they were rolling the others and some where going inside other eggs. But if you just have the few in there, I would just leave them all in there. If you open it you will drop your humidity. So if you do, do it extremely fast.

Man I haven't been on in almost a week and there are like 158 posts, so I'm not going to go back and read them. Hope everyone is been doing great. All my chicks are getting really big, and I think, think I might have a Frizzle OE. Just THINK, they are a week old and its the only one that the feathers are not laying straight, and are weird at the end. I will be so very thrilled if she is.

Cynthia did you get any of your eggs to hatch from you awful shipment? I sure hope so.

Non-chicken news, but I'm a new proud owner of an Blue Merle Australian Shepherd, so very excited. He is only 4 weeks old, so I won't have him for another 4-5 weeks. I have been doing dog agility for 8 years with rescued dogs, for everyone that doesn't know, its the obstacle courses that dogs run through. And I've been wanting to buy an Aussie for at least 6 years now, and I finally did it. I'm so excited.

RedIII--what are your eggs that you gave me mixed with? I'm pretty sure the one is a rooster, the comb is bright red, and the other one is so huge I hope its a girl, doubles the size of the one I'm thinking is a rooster, but that one has a very smooth comb, and its not red at all. They both have the biggest puffy cheeks ever. I love them. I have photos on my phone, let me see if I can post them on here, so you all can see them.

Here are the chicks.

The Roo

The 2 of them, I think the roo is the smaller of the 2

Hopefully the huge Pullet- that SLW behind her is actually 4 days older, that is how huge that chick is.

And my blue boy

Haha you and me both! I keep going to ifa stores and cal ranch every other day just to look at their chicks and see if by chance they got in silkies lol. I feel like a crazy chicken lady to and I try to hide it because my hubby just thinks im weird and teases me and I dont like it cause he gives me the look like there's something wrong with me lol. So I have to play with them while he's at work and then wait till he's gone to bed if I want to enjoy them without getting laughed at. lol.

sorry... I need a place to vent that isn't on Facebook, where my neighbor can see...

I am so ready to call Animal Control on my neighbor's dog... it's a huge yellow lab (they got it as a rescue) but he is NOT a safe dog.... I don't feel safe with him around my kids, I don't feel safe with him around me. He got out of his yard today, and INTO my back yard (I had my gate open, because I was out with my chicks in the shed). He chased my cat, and I didn't even notice he got in, I went out of my yard, shut the gate, and went inside the house.... I got into my house, and saw him at my back door! I sternly said "GO HOME!" and he raised his hackles at me, and growled.... and then I realized I had shut the gate, so I went around from my garage, and opened the back gate, and again told him to go home, and again, he growled and raised his hackles, walked past me, turned around, walked up not looking at me, and did it again. I stood my ground, and told him again, and he finally went home.

I'm so glad I didn't have chickens out.... I can guarantee he would have killed them....

on another note.... if my little OEGB doesn't stop being a bully to my new black silkie that I got from iluvmysilkies, I'm going to have to find her a new home. My little black silkie is too sweet, she just cowers in the corner when my OEGB is in there, because she'll go, grab a beakful of feathers, and rake her with her feet :(. Right now, I've got the OEGB separated, and she absolutely hates it. She's only about 4 weeks old, and is the smallest one of the group (well, one of the smallest, my bantam cochins are wider, but about the same size lol)

Oh no! I was about to ask how it was going today. Thats so sad. She's never been picked on before. She's always been the brave one and the first one to try new things. Poor baby. Ya it sounds like your other baby is a lil meanie lol.

what makes me even more frustrated, is that the OEGB didn't do that the 1.5 weeks ago when I got the other silkie! :p Don't worry though, none of the other chicks are bothering her except an occasional pecking order peck on the head, which doesn't seem to really bother her. Just my gosh darn little stinker OEGB! *sigh*
