Quote:I just get frustrated. I hate that some people paint a horrible picture of how turkeys are raised and a lot of people choose to listen without learning for themselves. We raise beef cattle and I find myself correcting misconceptions with family members and friends all the time.

RedIII Did you still need me to take those chicks? I never heard from you, but have been busy so I might have missed it on the thread somewhere. I'm actually going to a Girl Scout Overnight at the Zoo tonight, so I can pick them up in the morning if your going to be in the Salt Lake Area. I think we will be leaving the Zoo around 9:30am. Not really sure. I can bring back anything that is up north down south if needed too. Or going North today too, I guess. I have to be at the Zoo at 5:30 tonight so you would have to meet me before then.

On the Turkeys. I saw that sign on a post on Facebook yesterday. And I'm truly sorry, but I laughed so hard I couldn't stop. Just the phrase "Hundreds of Terrified Turkeys" Really its was sad, I remember seeing it on the news, and it was very sad to see. But really Peta, what did you think, the turkeys are going to a huge farm to run around for the rest of their days. Nope I'm sure they would have been stuck in a freezer within the week. I love to take photos of odd and crazy signs, and I hope they do so I can get it. Seriously, if a bus full of kids went over, I doubt they would have let them put up a sign about honoring them.

Silly, I forgot to say, but yes, you are welcome to the chicks! The SB is getting more to where she likes attention, but the Cochin is being a bossy stink. And I think I figured out what the tiny one is: Japanese bantam. She's going to be buff with some black, it looks like. She's very sweet, and sooo cute. I wish I could keep her.

Anyway I work evenings and all day tomorrow, but my work isn't far from the freeway. Feel like making a detour?

Yeah! on the Japanese Bantam. Hope its a girl. I have a black one right now that I'm probably going to have to sell. She keeps jumping the fence to actually sit in front of the dog kennels and scream at them. Like haha, you can't get me, and its turning into an everyday thing. So I'm really sad if I do have to rehome her. I've locked her up in the coop the last 2 days to see if maybe tomorrow after all the time out she will not adventuring over the fence.

But I can pick them up tomorrow on my way home from the Zoo. I think we should be leaving the zoo around 9:30-10am. Not really sure.

Greetings, chicken folk. Welcome to the newbies! Pull up a chair and chat a while.

Cynthia, so sorry about the white baby

ILMS, I'll bet Dixie looks cute with babies!

Sundance, any chance I could talk you into taking some turkey eggs up to Logan for Ace? Assuming you haven't already left?

I checked my turkey eggs in the incubator. One black cloud of death (possibly two) and six boring yolk blobs... Seriously, it's been at least two weeks. I hate hate hate this incubator

I'm considering just shutting it off and tossing the eggs. And maybe trashing the bator. Piece of garbage.
Oh! That would be soooo great!!!!! Haha! :)

Speaking of just up the street....This was just up the street from Lisa! Secure those lamps people!

I saw this yesterday! I was up on the North Logan bench at 7:30 pm just getting ready to go to USU for a study group. I saw the huge billow of black smoke and was hoping it wasn't a house! It definitely didn't look like the normal white-ish wispy smoke of someone burning a field.

8 Babies silkies ... :) Out of 10 that went into lock down.
Group shot..a tiny tot on the bottom of photo..seems I usually get one Lisa..and,
I am thinking this is a dark blue...hmmm?? Not sure what that white one is,
has that smoky look to it like my one I lost.

My paint, with her little spots.

Crazy beards going on already! Pretty sure a splash!

Another splash!

No vaulted head on this one, but a nice fluffy neck already too..
