You can also get No-Crow Rooster Collars if you want to keep the roosters. I think Cynthia may have tried one of these collars, so maybe she has some experience she can share.

I thought about it, and tried making my own (yeah, fail on my part) but then got thinking that the one I want to keep, crows a LOT.... and so even gurgled sounds might be quite noticeable, because we back a neighborhood walking path....

alright, well, since I'm already sending 3 roosters to my sister (I still don't think that's the best idea, I don't think she knows what she's getting into....) Would anyone like to trade a rooster for a hen???

Sorry about the roo....maybe someone on KSL would take him? I put mine on there and usually have someone call within 2-3 days to come pick him (them) up.

I wonder about the bantams...they are straight run, and marked as such, so I have to wonder if the nurseries, when sexing chicks, make their educated guesses on the bantams and send extra roos to the stores. I have only gotten one banty pullet at the stores and probably tried close to a dozen. Boys a LOT of the time...not very much luck at all.

I have a rooster collar on my Blue marans roo, it mutes the crow a little but it is definitely still there. I have considered taking it off, because he seems really bothered by it and the girls pick at it constantly...he is not mating with them hardly at all. He is always shaking his head really hard and walking around backwards like it bothers him alot in the mornings.

I have not tried them on the silkie roos, their crows have all been really small so far.

I have Hercules home and took the requested pictures. He's really moulting and has lost a bunch of his pretty curley feathers but the pictures give you an idea of what he looks like. You'll need to imagine what he looks like fully feathered. He is sweet. gets along with kids and is a breeding machine. Picture heavy he's been decrowed and wears a crow collar so he's not loud at all

I have some of her eggs in now..a lot of the blues are viable. And, the NN eggs..are those Hercules' baby eggs Diana? Curly NN's..hmm..might be cute.
That's quite the curl on that chick Lisa.
