Diane, the gal from Eureka is saying she wants a Silkie rooster. What?
Anyway, I have someone else that will take him..she doesn't eat her chickens either. It's Brandi. She has some of my real pretty silkies, so hoping she has a girl in there, and, she also has a couple of my cochins. Real pretty ones..so the mix will be good on some of her hens. She's just in Payson.
What ive been doing is leaving the light off for a few hrs at the hottest point of the day since they are all outside in the shed now and it feels pretty warm outside. I watch their behavior and make sure they are still active and playing/eating and not just huddling up. I do that or bring them outside to play in a pen where they have shade & sun (and of course water), and so far they are always playing/searching for bugs and never huddling. I figure it'll help feather them in quicker to if they dont have constant heat. But its still a lil cold at night but not bad, so I still have the light on through the night. After about 5-6 weeks I notice they look just about completely feathered and I take them off the light completely. I've just experimented with this over the last few mths since I have all different ages, and it seems to work great so farOkay, will 4 week olds be okay out in a coop without a heat lamp/light?
