Utah!

So I have 4 adorable baby chicks with 2 momma's. They are currently locked up in the mini coop I made, it about 6 foot by 4 foot, and they have food and water in there. When do you think would be a good age for me to move them out of that coop into the grow out pen? I just don't want to move them out and for some reason they can't figure out how to get back in the mini coop in the grow out pen. And I really think my Silkie is a stupid momma, I've gone out twice today to check on them. This morning the Cochin Bantam had all 4 babies sitting by the food dish talking to them, and getting them to eat. The Silkie was just hanging out in the nest box. Then again when I went out, the Cochin had 3 babies out in by the food, and the other baby was a sleep with the Silkie. I moved the other one back with its correct momma, and the Cochin called for them, and they both left the Silkie and ran to her. So I think the Cochin might end up taking over all responsibilities for the chicks. So funny to watch. The Silkie is like completely clueless, and really doesn't seem to even care.

is anyone interested in some Serama pairs? I brought a few extra pet quality pairs back with me from California. They are really pretty birds, very small just not show quality. They would be $35.00 a pair

I agree, that roo looks like a Crele OEGB. Very handsome. If I didn't already have my boys, I'd grab him. But as it is, I need to whittle mine down :/

Elk, so sorry about the heartache you're going through right now. I can sympathize. My grandma is near to passing and I actually left work to go see her because I was so upset. Love and prayers are coming your way.

One of the hens my mom has hid a nest and hatched out 17 chicks. I have pictures on my camera, but it's almost impossible to get those posted from a computer right now.

OMG 17, how did she sit on all of those. That is nuts. Wow is all I can say.

Thanks Red. It's been rough.

I thought the roo was pretty but I don't knowing anything about Seramas except Diana has some awesome coloring and what I could see of his dropped wings made me wonder.

Wow, 17 chicks! I can just imagine her trying to tuck them all in at night!

wow I bet your mom is having fun watching those. really amazing

Yes. If anyone wants a rooster that hardly ever crows, my mom needs to rehome hers. He is a Barred Rock, but has some really bad spine problems. He gets around alright and does his job with the girls, but my mom can't have a bunch if chicks hatching left and right. This guy is really fertile and produces healthy chicks. If anyone is interested, let me know.

I just love my chickens. I was grooming a dog this morning and they were fascinated. I groom them on hte patio so the birds can pick up the fur for their nests. The chickens just loved the clippers. They kept flying up on the grooming table to check out the buzz. They were fascinated, I kept linfting a couple off and another couple were flying up. It was so cute but a bit annoying at the same time. It took forever to groom the dog so I only got one done instead of the three i had planned. Another dog tomorrow
