Utah!

THANK YOU to Sundance - my little blind dude (pls correct me if I'm wrong) has a girlfriend!

Today was not the greatest day for me (we picked up my husband's best friend (and close family friend) from IHC in SL and I said my final goodbye so DH could take him home to Montana to pass away *gulp*). Still prayin for a miracle. He's been with us twice in the past year-ish, this time for almost 6 wks. Many ER/Dr/hospital/test visits to finally learn there wasn't much time left dammit.

Anyhow's...I wasn't sure I was up to visiting but it was a great way to dry up the tears and get my mind off things. Diana and her husband are AWESOME and I got to see some of the prettiest birds ever! Like going to a show, but up close and personal! (and she's got the cutest and so well behaved tiny dogs too!).

I looked at her chickens trying to find one size-wize so we could pick a friend. I obviously under-estimated his size...but they took to each other right away! (I think I mentioned I had a friend for him but it got out when it was smaller and didn't survive sadly). The two supposed marans are hanging together (last pic is group shot) and have left him alone since.

I put her (fingers crossed *her*) in with them till I could get stuff unloaded. I was happy to see they hit it right off! She isn't quite as feathered and so if it gets colder tonight I'll bring the two in the house. They will get their own honeymoon suite when I can find a place for Thelma & Louise.

Now I need cute name suggestions for the hopefully happy couple. Oh, she's from a WCBP and I can't remember the dad....maybe Hercules?

I now have 3 babies, and the last egg is starting to zip. So fun, lets hope that both momma's are good momma's, specially since I'm leaving for a week in 2 weeks.

Thanks so much Gary for the 5 eggs. Made my 2 broody's happy momma's. Now I just have one more Silkie to deal with.

I can't believe I am saying this! This time, this time it's for real. After these eggs from Diana and Shannelle hatch, I'm done for this year. I have so many chickens I shouldn't have. I have been waiting for those silkies from that gal, haven't heard from her. ?? That isn't like her. She is the middle of moving though...soo.

Lisa, go back and see my orange and blue EE on that thread silly asked about a few of hers. This one pictured on the other thread isn't the one I was talking about on here earlier. I should get photos of her tomorrow.

Cynthia she looks like my "Blue" EE. We call her Blue. She lays a nice cream egg. Yes, almost a tanish pink cream egg. But yours has more gold in the neck. Here is Blue last week out in the yard. And everyone told me she was a Rooster because of all that copper coming in, But she is just laced that way.

Oh my goodness, I thought you copied and pasted there for a min. But, it's daylight. lol..yes, looks very much like mine. Mind doesn't have slate legs, can't tell if yours is..mine has the green legs. Hoping for a blue egg. Yours is pretty, because she looks like mine. :) lol

And, yours looks to have wyondotte in here?

Maybe she does. I got her last year from Shady Brook Farms in Sandy, Sexed EE pullet. lol She has slate legs. And this was before I knew anything about chickens, so I was told she would lay either blue or green eggs. Her sister that came with her lays light green eggs, she lays a light cream egg. LOL Both are going to our friends house when he gets the coop built. They are 17 months old, and I was going to sell them off in the fall to make room for my Ameruacana Chick (which is looking more like a boy now) and my Black EE Mix from Red and the OE. I need to thin them out for my new chicks.

OMG I gotta post my EE Belle on here tomorrow. Cynthia, she looks exactly like yours, black head, blue and orange body. We got them at the same time, remember we were commenting about how they looked the same color as chicks? They could be twins. Yup mine is a she too...i was thinking you were talking about that dark red stuff that comes in on the boys. This looks lighter....mine too, thank goodness! She/they are so pretty. Yours too Karen!

Ok so Wendy was saying on that other thread that legbar OE's have straight combs. Now I am totally psyched, I never even thought about that. I have 6 straight combs and one pea comb, so I have been worried, but did not consider the legbar straight comb, I thought they were peacombed like the ameraucanas. Woot, I have two that are ready to lay anyday, any my older OE's ar ready to retire. Silly, hope you get your 2 that you are wanting!

I have quail chicks, free to anybody, I really have to find a home for these because there are just a few and it is such a fiasco brooding just a couple. Any takers? They are Browns. My Texas A&M must have had some sort of fight overnight last night, I had to put one in the garage because it got scalped. This is the second one, we put down the first one....this one looks perky still but nasty wound on the head. It is going to be in a kennel for a few weeks at least :( Poor girl! It is really hard to tell the difference on the whites so I am wondering if the ones fighting have been boys...I just have no way to tell. The gal I got them from sexed them, I never asked how she could tell... she said there might be a chance they were not the gender she thought but felt pretty sure. I only get two-3 eggs a day, so that would explain why I have never gotten all 5 eggs in one day. Weird? I really hate it when birds fight and hurt each other.
