Lisa, if you ever hatch out an extra splash Marans girl, I would love to have one. I've been wanting a splash girl in my yard. I have an EE baby that is splash, but she is going to have some brown/red going throughout her neck and shoulders..maybe further into her body. Would love a nice blue splash hen.

I have 2 babies.  Yippee... The Cochin Bantam hatched the 2 eggs that I left with her last night sometime.  The Silkie is sitting on the 2 that were moving the most, and I hope I didn't hurt them or something by moving them into her nest box right next door, because nothing.   I need to go run and get some chick feed, thought I had some left from the last chicks, but nope.  I think I'm going to lock both the Silkie with her 2 eggs and the Cochin in the shipping crate coop for the next few days.  To see if the Silkie eggs hatch.  Today is day 20, so I'm not worried. 

Awesome, good luck on the last few eggs! I think the rest of mine are duds. Hoping this next batch does not have the temp issues I had the last go around!
Can't wait to see baby pics.

"SHE" has brown/red on shoulders....are you sure she is a she I am thinking that is the sign of the devil on EE's, right? LOL

Are you interested at all in the little splash I posted? You can have it if you are.... don't know if it is a girl though! I don't know if the eggs will be very dark, the momma does not lay dark but the dad came from a dark egg....but the momma is an amazing daily/big egg layer. Both parents are Blue Copper Marans. I could pm you more pics of the comb and feet, the comb is super narrow, I would guess the odds are good, the blue OE that I want to keep looks more boyish and the splash looks more girlish IMO. She is not blue splash, just splash....I am looking to keepr the blues only right now.

Okay..I have decided, this "having roosters" thing is dangerous for me.

Setting eggs in three days, I have a few more Blue/black/splash marans to collect, but......

Here is a pic of what I have so far, will have some OE from SBELS that lay like crazy, hope they keep the poofy cheeks! And lots of Sex links from the BR and Golden Cuckoo Marans....and some B/B/S purebred Marans.

Hey can I buy some Blue/Splash Maran eggs from you to see if my other Silkie that is still in the box will hatch some. I'm coming up to Ogden for my sister inlaws wedding next Saturday, so I can meet you up in the area if possible. Then she can hopefully sit on them while I'm gone and they will be fine. But I would love another Maran, and a Splash or blue would be awesome! I would say only 6 eggs, I don't know how many she can sit on, its just a Silkie.

Silly yes, and Liz, yes! I am just setting some on Wed, so I should have plenty for what I want here, then will collect some for you Karen, and Liz, let me know what kind you are looking for if you decide you want some. In the main run I have eggs that would produce OE, and B/B/S Marans, and sex links and then the rest would be barnyard mixes from my Blue Marans Rooster. In another pen I have Silkie/Sg , but they are all broody sitting on eggs to hatch this weekend, so when they start laying again, after I collect promised eggs for abkoldewyn, they will be available too. Those girls are with Ernie the blue Frizzle Silkie rooster....and a black silkie that is randomly starting to mate but I think most eggs would be fertilized by Ernie he is a busy boy. In pen #3 I have a partridge silkie roo in with White Polish, White crested black Polish, and Mottled Houdans if you want to try those for some little crazy hairdo mixed babies.

Quail eggs-- I keep getting over run with too! Coturnix and Texas A&M. Liz I have those all the time if you want any just let me know a few days ahead so I can collect them...I am getting 2-3 Texas and 3-4 Coturnix per day. Depends on the rain they do not seem to lay as much when it is cloudy/darker out. I have 4 dozen in the bator too if anybody wants chicks instead of eggs, they will hatch in 15 days I just set them. (( If my bator stays on/warm this time around! ))

Went out and took a few photos of momma and chicks. Looks like I have a chipmunk/silkie. HeHe, and then a black one. I'm sure the 2 I left with her was a Silkie Roo/Blue Eggs. Not sure how the others are doing, I don't dare move them, but the stupid Silkie was sitting on top of the Cochin and her chicks and totally off her eggs, I had to move her, I will go back out in a few and check, I guess if she does it again, I might move the eggs back under the Cochin. Stupid Silkie.

Thanks Lisa, I would love a Splash Maran that would be awesome. Not sure about meeting. I have to take photos of the wedding, so I need to be at the Timbermine in Ogden at 3:30-8:30pm. So not sure how we will work it. Do you ever go to Ogden area?

If not, I can always wait till after I get home from Colorado, and all else fails stick them in the incubator.

Cute chicks! i will let you know if I go to Ogden--not too often unless we have something there to go to. Also not sure if we are camping or doing what next weekend, but will save eggs and hopefully between the bunch of us we can get some to you.
