Utah!

So i had a broody silkie hen sitting on three eggs that was going to hatch at different days. Momo (for all the newbies Momo is my bantam EE and is a egg hatching freak) decided she was going broody again. In 24 hours she took over the eggs and hatched a chick. I have since moved her to a different area with the chick. The other 2 eggs i put back under the silkie and one is hatching right now. 1 egg is gone and i have a sick feeling my son collected it and gave it to a customer that bought some for eating. So i probable lost that customer. But anyhow my little Momo is very protective of her chicks and tonight i went out to check on her and found a dove in the run with a hurt wing. I think she might have broken it. Does anyone know what to do with a hurt dove. If i leave it in the run the cats will kill it. And 1 dove doesn't feed a family of 9. If any one wants it to try to help it so it can get better i will catch it and give it to you.
You could probably splint the wing (take some vet wrap, tuck the wing up next to the body, and with the other wing free, wrap the wing to the body), make sure it gets enough water, and warmth. You could take it to your local shelter.... they may take it in. I would offer to take it for you... but I won't be able to drive to Lehi to get it I'm in Springville if you wanted to come drop it off, I'd be more than willing to help out.

I'll pm you my cell

I just caught it and put it in a big bird cage. It looks like the wing isnt broken but might have some musle damage. It has a lot of blood on its wing but not up by the body but at the end were the flight feathers start to grow out. Im thinking it might have been a cat and not Momo now but then again i have seen the chickens kill small birds that have got in there way

gotcha, probably could still wrap it, and keep some ointment on it so it can heal without infection. I'd be more than happy to help out

I hope you can nurse it back to health. So sweet that you are trying!

If you take it to the animal lshelter they will just kill it. You can call the wild life rescue center they will take it in.

I have 2 babies. Yippee... The Cochin Bantam hatched the 2 eggs that I left with her last night sometime. The Silkie is sitting on the 2 that were moving the most, and I hope I didn't hurt them or something by moving them into her nest box right next door, because nothing. I need to go run and get some chick feed, thought I had some left from the last chicks, but nope. I think I'm going to lock both the Silkie with her 2 eggs and the Cochin in the shipping crate coop for the next few days. To see if the Silkie eggs hatch. Today is day 20, so I'm not worried.

Okay..I have decided, this "having roosters" thing is dangerous for me.

Setting eggs in three days, I have a few more Blue/black/splash marans to collect, but......

Here is a pic of what I have so far, will have some OE from SBELS that lay like crazy, hope they keep the poofy cheeks! And lots of Sex links from the BR and Golden Cuckoo Marans....and some B/B/S purebred Marans.

hey folks, I've got my OEGB Rooster that I need to sell. He's only about 12 weeks old, but he's crowing.... well, attempt crowing, a lot. And since I got rid of the other roosters, he thinks he has to do it more often now! I've tried a homemade rooster collar, and it only made his call a bit more high pitched, and slightly less projected... didn't seem to deter him very much.

So, as much as I really hate doing this, I'm going to offer him here, before I place him on KSL. He's an absolutely gorgeous guy! and when you hold him, he just seems to snuggle right up on your hand! I'd send him with the other roos to my sister, but apparently my Grandma is throwing a hissy fit (next door to her) (apparently there is a rooster there (not my sisters) that crows at 4:30 am) so I hesitate to send Pip to her.... *sigh*

I'd like to see him go to a wonderful home, where he can strut his stuff. I'll be asking $10 on KSL, but if someone on here wants him, I'll just give him to you for free, with a promise that you won't eat him
