Utah!

Hello Utah…

New to the forum and such, just thought I would chime in here and note that I am in Cache Valley, as I see some of you are. I like the Heritage Breeds, and Bantys. Looking forward to getting my little guys the week of July 7th.

I've skimmed some of this tread and looks like fun, anyway hello.

Regards

RJ

We are a fun bunch. At times we are a goofy bunch. Other times a serious bunch. A lot of times a selling bunch. Then there are the times when we are a giving bunch..those would be those with roosters. Yep. Anyway, let us know what you are getting!

Welcome RJ, I am up here too! :frow There are many this direction, some only post once in awhile, but I think I have met 20+ on here from this area. Chicken nerds Unite.....as Red says!

Cynthia is right, this is a fun place with some of the best people I have ever met. Good friends on here, lots of lost sleep gabbing chicken talk haha :D And yup, if you need more chickens after your first batch, you have found the right place lol Good luck hanging out on here and not ending up with twice as many (at least) as you originally wanted! Haha! Cynthia started me off with my first BYC member hatched chickens, now I think all that I have left are from someone or another on this thread.

Red, I hope you catch the stinkers on the game cam. Gotta be pretty low to terrorize a chicken for kicks...:smack And I am so sorry about your grandma. Good news needs to come your way, you are due!

Thank you for the kind Utah welcome. I have 7 RIR, 7 Barred Rocks, a few Delaware's, 1 California White, 1 White Leghorn, a Buff Orpington and a few others for a total of about 24 eleven week old birds. Most of these came from the Hyde Park IFA, a couple from Cal-Ranch. The ladies at IFA are very nice.

My very first chick shipment is due to me the week of July 7th. I am getting OEGB… Gingers, BBReds, Silver Duckwing, and both colors of Seabright's. There should be about 44 Banty's total in the order. I love the small birds.

I have a nice, but older 12 x 20 coop and am building a new one for the hens to lay in. It will be 10 x 14 with a covered run coming soon. I've not had birds for many years and thought I would give them a try once again, now my life is slowed down some.

Anyway nice to have neighbors and friends whom love bird in my neck of the woods.

Thanks once again…

RJ

Hey, hope everyone is doing well. I had to skip the last few pages, so sorry if I missed anything. My grandma passed the other night and today was the funeral. I'm relieved she is no longer suffering from health issues.

Couple of things - We had some dogs get into our turkey pen this morning and chase my two toms out. They chewed the one up pretty good. We found both turkeys and got them back okay. No idea who's dogs it was, but I suspect the neighbors behind us that sound like they have the pound in their yard :/

And, I got my game cam up tonight! I was waiting on the huge capacity memory card I'd ordered for it, and it came today. So I tried to place the camera in a discreet place outside. We'll see what turns up. It can record for more than two weeks with this card in it. We may get some shots of the deer here, too.

Noon like cold hard evidence. Happy-sad about your grandmother. My grandma deteriorated in health as well. That always makes the passing a little more sweet than bitter. Nevertheless, my condolences.

Welcome rj. Wow! Let's hope you don't double your chickens like Lisa predicts! Haha. You must be in "rural" cache valley to have that many chickens! Are you keeping roosters too?

Red, soo waiting to hear..what you see!   :pop

Me too! Red. Does the camera have motion sensors? Or will it just record straight?
