Ugh, I saw rats in my chick coop last night! Mice are a given, but I about had a heart attack after seeing how big a couple of those "mice" were. I watched out a window with binocs to make sure they didn't go after the teen-chicks, especially the little blind dude, and they didn't... so my husband is rat hunting tonight. I would have set out mousetraps but these buggers would have just hauled them off, ugh! and I wouldn't have seen them except we got a few cold nights so I put the light on for my new white one from Diana. (who is settling in great with her new guy, they are never far apart and I didn't need to remove the 2 other girls!)
In nearly 15 yrs here, we've never seen anything larger than a field mouse. But come to think of it, we also haven't had the fox problem we've usually had...so whatever got the fox(es) (gulp) obviously gave the rodents a break. I'm almost thinking I'd rather deal with a fox now and then...
I Luv, how are your chicks doin' today after the fert scare? We usually burn our weeds but my husband admitted that he tried some roundup this year (no rainy spring) on a few aggressive weeds. He promised it was in places the horses or chickens don't go but I'll pray for rain LOL
