Utah!

Red, I am trying to figure out the picture you just posted, of your hand. Did you get bit? Or is there something in your hand that got cut out of the pic? Explain, I have looked at this for ten minutes lol.

Iluv, do be careful with weedspray and fertilizer! I have had girls eat grass that had been sprayed with weed b gone and get sick, the first year I had hens. I did not realize my Dh was out there spraying and let them free range the yard. I did not lose any, but it scared me I had a few laying all sprawled out under the coop foaming stuff out of their mouth for a day. They were fine the next day, so I was pretty sure that was it, but I am more careful now for sure when I let them out, and try not to use that stuff unless I can lock them up for awhile afterwards.
Oh my goodness how scary. Mine have a large enclosure that they stay in so I rarely let them out into the yard anyway because I cant stand how my dog follows them around like clean up crew lol. I had moved thim into another corner for maybe fifteen mins since hubby wanted to water the area I keep them at and I didnt realize they had laid fertilizer over there as well until I looked closer :s

hey, does anyone in Utah County (or willing to deliver to Utah County) have a 6 - 20 week old (can probably be up to a year old... but I'd prefer to keep them in the current age range) easter egger/Americauna pullet/hen that they are looking to sell? (no egg eaters/bullies please!). I am just looking for one. I will also look at other breeds if they're friendly ;) and decent egg layers. looking to spend hopefully no more than $10 on one

I have two that hatched second week in May. I am fairly positive one is a girl, the other one I have thought was a girl all along but it is a tad less girly than the other one, but mountains more girlie than the four roos I identified from the hatch and rehomed weeks ago. You can have them if we can find a way to get them to you. One is white, one is blue and orange, very cute.

No babies ey? I have some little EE babies. Looking girly too. They are a few weeks old. So younger than you are looking for.

aww, I'd love some babies :) but I just want to be able to put them in my coop... plus, I can only get one to round off my flock (city only allows 6). Right now I have 2, 6 week old sexlinks, and I have them in with my other chickens (they get chased around.... but I haven't seen them get picked on, really.) and the others in my flock are about.... 16 weeks I think? they haven't started laying yet... but I'm betting on the next two weeks I'll start getting some eggs ;)

those are pretty much the age I'm looking for. my oldest were purchased the very last week of may MARCH! not may lol!, and they weren't more than a week old. I can only have one though :\ would you post me some pics of them?

and I forget, where are you at again?

couple of questions....

a) can 6 - 7 week old chicks be free with the 16 week old chickens? (they get chased around a bit, but they are still able to eat, and get water). I used to put them in their own little 'pen' inside the chicken coop, but I had to change some things around, so their pen wouldn't fit anymore. I'm hoping they'll be okay locked in the coop at night with them (it's a 4x4 and I just added a roost in there).

b) how do I start my older chicks on laying feed, when the other 2 need to be on chick starter/grower feed? (my older chickens should start laying in the next 2 - 3 weeks)

aaaandd.... I think I had another question... but I forgot.... lol

Edit: nevermind on the second question! I found out you just feed them all grower feed, and put out a cup of oyster shells for the layers :)

I would not recommend putting just one in the coupe. KIts better to have two so one does not get picked on, I have an americana mix and a cream legbar mix that are both pullets
