Utah!

That would be great if you can. Oh my gosh this Araucana is gorgeous. I'm so tempted to keep them but I currently have 9 silkies so I really shouldn't. I'm just thankful my husband stopped and helped me catch them. They seem soo relieved and drank water forever! It would be great to place them tonight with someone so I don't have to worry about them tomorrow. It's going to be a big day :)

Lisa, yes we are going to try to keep a couple of roosters for each type, sort of a start to some pens of the little birds I like best. I favor the little chickens, and I love the ones Liz & sundance have, perhaps next year for those. I've got a ton of stuff to do the the two coops I am working on now, to start a third for them… but you never know.

Does anyone know when the chickens are in at the Box Elder County fair? I'd like to take an early peek if they are there today or tomorrow. I have always seen some very nice birds over there. Yesterday as we were enjoying a nice and slow Sunday, Karole and I went and sat with the Banties. We decided to give them a treat that they seem to love, a beef hotdog. It causes quite a frenzy, these little guys are meat eaters. We also christened the 'move' to the coop with 100 large crickets dumped in the center of the floor for a mad house of activity, hopefully everyone got at least one of them.

Best to all of you and your birds,

RJ
There will be birds there tomorrow after 1pm

Briana--Only a true chicken lover would be out catching chickens on the side of the road the day before having their baby. Haha! I am sooo glad you were not trying to do this yourself. I wish I would have been there not only to help you but to share a few pics of the affair. :p You are really sweet for doing that....and it seriously irks me that someone would dump chickens.

Good luck with your new addition tomorrow, I hope after the dust settles you will be able to share a picture of your new little one! So happy for you! :hugs Best of luck on your big day. :clap

yeah, I'll say tomorrow will be a big day! (it's actually my 9th anniversary tomorrow :D so fun that you're having a baby on that day!) what time this afternoon/evening would be best?

Haha thanks Lisa :) that's so sweet of you to say. Ya, it just seemed natural to rescue them. It would've bothered me all day if we had just kept driving. But I owe a lot to my hubby for understanding me enough to not only stop but to help me catch them lol. I'm super excited for tomorrow, and I'll post a pic of lil Ashlee as soon as I get home :)

Hey guys I am selling all of my silve laced wyandottes. I have four hens. I will sell them all for $35 or $10 each. Call me if you are interested. 801-798-0850 ask for tell.

Briana, you are such a mama>>>hen. That's a great rescue story.

Now, to be the new human mama..good luck tomorrow! Excited to see photos! Love the name!

These are the two chickens that Iluv rescued. The EE is for sure a hen, but the left one, I can't even begin to guess the age, and it's bossy, and challenging my top hen through the fence.... so I'm almost wondering if it's a rooster. it's a bit on the smaller side, which is why I thought it was younger. I also don't know what breed the left one is... the white on it's back is feathers growing back, it seemed to either be mounted a lot, or got picked on a lot.... (I'm guessing the second). Red has its' wings clipped, but not the EE. As far as I can tell, they don't seem to be ill at all...
The EE may be spoken for (however, if someone really would like her, I can probably talk my sister out of it) but the red, I'm not sure what to do with it, since I don't know if it's a roo or hen. So... that being said... anyone looking for a couple of chickens to add to their flock? I'd rather them go together, so I don't have to house only one alone....

Edit: Iluv said there was an egg in the area where she found these two, so I'm guessing that the EE is the one, because she squats when I approach her. But I will post if I find an egg today (that is, if she lays in the 'nest box' that I have set up lol)
