Utah!

how sad!!! if someone wants them, but isn't able to pick them up tonight, I may be able to house them temporarily for you. I'm at my max of 6 hens... so I won't be able to keep them.
When you get them, can you determine approx age and see if you get any eggs from them? I may be interested, and don't care if they aren't spring chickens as long as healthy and lay, I have enough older chickens that I don't hv the heart to rehome to anyone's pot. I'd love a pic.

RJ: I saw you have banties. I have a beautiful pair of OE Red Pyles (2 roos to pick fm), a pair of Blue Quail De'Anvers (again two roos), and some Black Quail De"Anver roos. All are gorgeous and nice breeding pairs. Free to your awesome home if interested. I ordered last year and got the short straw on hens. I'd love to keep them all but my coop is SO dang noisy!

I don't catch all the posts so pls PM if I don't respond. Thanks!

I know this is OT but many own horses here.... I'm late in the game in getting horse hay. I need approx 5 tons. I have a beautiful 17" Crates Trail saddle or a Powder River round pen for trade.

Again, pls PM if I don't see your post. Thanks!!!

shucks, if I had hay, I'd trade ya!

Also, if you look back on the previous page, I did post a pic of them. The EE is absolutely a hen, I have not seen egg yet, but she squats, and Iluv did say that there was an egg near where she found them.

These are the two chickens that Iluv rescued. The EE is for sure a hen, but the left one, I can't even begin to guess the age, and it's bossy, and challenging my top hen through the fence.... so I'm almost wondering if it's a rooster. it's a bit on the smaller side, which is why I thought it was younger. I also don't know what breed the left one is... the white on it's back is feathers growing back, it seemed to either be mounted a lot, or got picked on a lot.... (I'm guessing the second). Red has its' wings clipped, but not the EE. As far as I can tell, they don't seem to be ill at all...
The EE may be spoken for (however, if someone really would like her, I can probably talk my sister out of it) but the red, I'm not sure what to do with it, since I don't know if it's a roo or hen. So... that being said... anyone looking for a couple of chickens to add to their flock? I'd rather them go together, so I don't have to house only one alone....

Edit: Iluv said there was an egg in the area where she found these two, so I'm guessing that the EE is the one, because she squats when I approach her. But I will post if I find an egg today (that is, if she lays in the 'nest box' that I have set up lol)
okay, so I decided to look at the red one a little closer, because I picked it up, and its' bum felt 'squishy' is that normal? it does have some poop built up on the feathers, I didn't look close enough to see if it was blocked. I wanted to wait until it got a bit warmer this afternoon before I give it a bath to remove the poop.... kind of rainy outside right now....

@ElkMtnCove here's the post btw. I don't know how old the EE is.... she may be on the aged side, I am rather new to the whole chicken thing, her legs seem to be a bit scaley (not scaley leg mites). The red, I think it may be a younger cockerel, I haven't heard a crow, but it has tried to challenge my top hen through the fence....

Hey everyone I started a FB chicken connection page for Utah and Idaho, we would love to have you join! These groups take time to get going and build but I thought it would be nice to have as many avenues as possible to share and learn. Just another type of format, not trying to take away from this site. :) https://www.facebook.com/groups/318994734949655/ Thanks guys!

I think they are both hens. I think the red is a rhode island red, its not uncommon for hens to challenge looking at the tail looks like a hen to me.

That would be cool. Its like bantam size though... Really seems on the small size. After looking at pics, I'm pretty sure its a new Hampshire red, likely bantam

Yup that red one looks female---and a NH sounds right, if it has black tail tips, looks like it does. I would guess they are not this years hatch, at least last years, maybe older ;D That EE is pretty. Did it lay a blue or green egg?

The red one looks like she has been with a rooster the way the back feathers are worn. Or picked on some.

yeah, I thought that it had been mounted quite a bit, poor girl. and she does have some black tips on her tail.

it looks like I 'may' have found them a home. I have a neighbor who's dogs just got all but 1 of her chickens while she was at work today

She is really upset. I am going to look at the NHRed and see if I can tell if she's in good health. I'd hate to give my neighbor sick chickens :( The EE looks great, she's really cute, and fun to watch.

I'm guessing it was a blue egg, Iluv said that it looked white (she didn't go up to it) from a distance.

That's what I was going to say, they are both hens. The one has been mounted a lot. Not a rooster. :)
