Utah!

Lisa, four of the Broody's six eggs were fertile and growing. Two of the sbels were not growing. Not bad for waiting 10 days before setting them. The other seven are in my brinsea mini.

I'm thinking of taking the brinsea to my friend's third grade class just before lockdown. I think they'd love watching them hatch!
Amanda is going to lend me her brinsea mini. Is there anything you could tell me to help ensure a good silkie hatch?

I have a mini too! Awesome incubator. I haven't had a fertile egg not hatch yet. It is super easy... Just set it and forget it! I set mine to 37.5 degrees Celsius, turning every fifteen minutes, and I think turning angle on a ten for large fowl eggs. Maybe a bit smaller for silkie eggs. Make sure the water reservoir is half full until lock down, then fill it all the way! Super easy and so fun to watch!

Ace, that is awesome! Glad that some were good!

Cynthia, what breeds are you getting? Yay!

Yup! And Eva decided to snatch your toy on accident. I think it had fallen in her carrier... Sorry! y. We'll bring it back when we get a chance! :)

Thanks! Have you set silkies in it the same way and had a good hatch? Is the 37.5 referring to the humidity? What should the temp be, 101? I didnt know you could elevate the way it turns them and how often.. What should that be for silkie eggs, and how often to turn? This one turns it for you. Should it have the water half filled at all times? I have this worry that im going to do something wrong and not hatch any lol. I've never done it before, so I want to get it right.

Iluv, I am going to leave that info up to someone else to share. If I shared what I did to get a good hatch, during hatch time, most would say...nooo way! I'll just say, I helped a lot.
For temps during incubation with a still air, keep it around 100/101..I never went over 100.
If a bator with a fan..99.5 or 100.
I don't worry much about humidity much during incubation. I just keep it around mid 30's.
Humidity during lock down..most like 62%..so do I. I don't worry if it is just under at 60..or just over at 64. I just use the cheap big black temp/humidity thing..lol...at Walmart.
Good luck!

That actually helps alot, thanks! To keep the humidity in the mid 30's, did you even bother to add water at all until lockdown? I would honestly love to hear what you did to make sure they all hatched. Please tell me even if you want to message me. I want to make sure they all hatch no matter what I have to do! I have heard rumors that the temp gauge likes to fluctuate on its own with the still airs, is that true? I am going to use both the still air & the brinsea at the same time.

Did you keep all the humidity plugs in the whole time? Ive heard people take one of them out and them take both of them out at lockdown. Just curious if this made a difference for you at all or if I should just leave them in.

Ha, no worries. I've never hatched silkies before, but the instructions I received were from Wendy or sphinx. She always had amazing hatches! The 37.5 is the degrees that you will set the incubator to. You can choose to set it in Fahrenheit, but I prefer Celsius for hatches. The brinsea mini doesn't have a humidity gauge (unless you got the brinsea mini advanced), but as long as you keep the water reservoir half full until lock down, you should be fine. At lockdown, fill it all the way full.

It's the brinsea mini advance. Just curious if adding water works best with this bator since I'm told a dry hatch is better with the still airs, and I'm using both. Just wondering if it's different for silkies or something. Just really wanna get a good hatch whatever I need to do.

Ok, I just researched it, and looked at my incubator, and it isn't the advanced that has the humidity control. So the advanced is indeed the one that you just fill up one side of the reservoir until lockdown in which you fill both sides.

I'm sure you'll have a great hatch! I have one silkie egg in with six large fowl right now that I just set a few days ago.

Ok thanks.:) I wonder if I can fit one of those temp/hydro thingys inside with them just to help keep track of the humidity. I read that because they are so small the humid can go up alot, which isent good during incubation. Hmm
