Utah!

I finally got it up and running!!! First set of quail eggs went in Tuesday night. setting the next group Sunday night and every 5 days after for each group. This way i have quail maturing every week for butchering. At fifteen days the first batch will be removed from the incubator and set in a hatcher box. (I'm still building it but its mostly just cutting the fiberglass pieces to size and fitting them to the knotty alder box that is the outside of the hatcher box. I'm using a 12 volt dc Incukit from Incubator warehouse to regulate the temp in the hatcher. I will be adding a second shelf for another turner next week for chicken eggs. I made it big enough to hold 4 turning racks just in case i ever have the need to hatch that many eggs but that would be just crazy....right...? borrowed my daughter alarm clock to check temp in bottom. Still coming up in this picture.
Oh my goodness you have just become dangerous. Haha :D Great job, it looks fantastic!

Wow this looks awesome. I wish I were this handy lol. I'm looking at buying a better bator this spring. This would be great lol.

Hey Brad..what's up? How are your chickens handling this..ahem...cold weather? Not too bad..yet. Sure would be nice if our winter stayed this mellow..just need that snow up in the mountains. We missed out on enough last yr. up there. Could be in for watching our water usage this yr. if this keeps up. Rain is good, but we need that snow in the mountains for spring run off. That's where our supply is!
How many chickens do you have now? If recall..you had to put one down?

not much new here :) the chickens are doing great. they are not a fan of the cold rain even tho half their run is covered by a tarp. they were vocally complaining the last storm. but even on the cold days the coop stays nice and warm even without a heater. yep i hope we get a lot more storms, both in the mountains and the valleys to keep the air clear. i am down to 10 girls now and plan to add a few more in the spring :)

That's great! It looks really good! I wish good luck!

been reading up on muscovy ducks. i have long been tempted to get some. they are great foragers, are not loud like other ducks, reproduce like crazy and are good mothers and egg layers, they dont need so much water like other ducks. they can get big and are great meat ducks. they say the meat is more like lean beef or ham. i am tempted for sure. gary you should look them up if you have not already, seems they might go good with what you are trying to do.
