Utah!

Has anyone ever had two broody hens go broody together and raise babies together? Should I take the babies away or leave them be? Will they raise them together or fight over them? Two of my Silkie hens hatched out two babies and i'm afraid they might get hurt.

Just put a bid on these Buff Laced Polish Bantams. I'll only keep two or three. If I get them, let me know if you'd be interested in a chick or two! :) and sorry the picture is so big!

Those are the coolest looking chickens I've seen!

Brad?  Marans?  Do they need to be black?  I won some beautiful eggs that I will be setting for the Easter Hatch A Long in March.  He takes his eggs for shows..wins!  They are gorgeous.  He says that I could get BBS out of them, but he has been getting a lot of splashes..which is what I want, but, I could get some blacks, and that's while I am counting my chicks before they hatch.  :D
well that is cool! i like the blacks because i am told they lay the darkest eggs and that is what i want. but its possible i could go for another marans. will see if and what you want to part with :)

These are the eggs that are coming my way. :) I'm excited. I just hope they aren't as hard to hatch as I've heard.

been reading up on muscovy ducks. i have long been tempted to get some. they are great foragers, are not loud like other ducks, reproduce like crazy and are good mothers and egg layers, they dont need so much water like other ducks. they can get big and are great meat ducks. they say the meat is more like lean beef or ham. i am tempted for sure. gary you should look them up if you have not already, seems they might go good with what you are trying to do.

my friend here in Az has muscovies. She says they are tough and very fertile they lay and raise babies like crazy. yesterday they had a hawk visit and it caught a wild dove. After it ate the dove it was on top of the chicken barn sitting and watching the chickens. One of the muscovies flew up to the top of the barn and had a loud vobal conversation with the hawk the hawk flew away, Muscovies are good fliers so get the wings pionioned so they can't fly off

I have 6 Black Copper Marans on lock down and are scheduled to hatch Tomorrow. I would be willing to sell the chicks here for $5 ea.
