Utah!

We bought a a home here in Az Yesterday. It will make things so much better for living here in the winter. We will have the motorhome for jaunts up north in the summer and a home here for the winter. Can't have any chickens at the home so will still need to board Seramas while I'm here but that is also working out well

I just gor a dozen french golden coco maren eggs to hatch. They are a really dark brown. They are as dark as the fbcm eggs I have hatched. I'm hoping I have enough chicks to bring back to Utah for you guys, Those that breed may want to get a new color. This lady almost never sells her hatching eggs but she gave ne 16 She also gave me a dozen eggs that are F2 Olive eggers
She also gave mer her hatching plan for the eggs that are hatched in AZ I'll let you know how I do with them

Oh man, Brian is wanting one of those really bad, just was talking to him about them them the other day.

Yes, will be interested how they hatch. I hear different stories on how easy or hard they are to hatch. I am getting some BBS Maran eggs for the HAL.

Hello all…

Lisa, I've some Silver Sebright hens that are going to be extras, born in July of 2014. I remember you asking for fertile eggs, but I have spare hens… if you have interest. If not I'll offer them up on the board for other Utah members. I also will most likely have a spare Banty rooster in BBR, Ginger, perhaps in Silver Duckwing. I can pair up with hens if needed. All born as noted prior. Everyone is laying, 'cept the roos of course. The price is right to good homes. Not in a major rush, but looking for room for this years new chicks.

Regarding Large Fowl, I have a few RIR hens that will be a year old on Easter, all laying and looking good, perhaps a Barred Rock or two as well, same age as noted prior.

I am going to try to catch up on the thread, at least somewhat. Hope everyone is doing well and their birds too!

For those of you who have followed and or wondered of the progress of my newer coop, I've a photo to share regarding same.

I think I made this so you can click on it to get a bigger view, if you like. My banties live in this coop, and have gotten through this winter quite well. I love white snow and blue skies… It has been a very pleasant winter, and the birds and I love the early spring as well.

Best to all here in the Utah thread and your birds,

RJ

Hello Cynthia,

Always enjoy(ed) your posts and point of view. Just a quick note to the Northern Utah folks and perhaps a heads up for others, my local IFA in Hyde Park is getting the first shipment of chicks this Friday @ about 10:00 in the morning. Yep, it is that time of year already/again! I have become a major chick magnet of late, so I have to limit my visits and views of the fluffy little balls of delight. Anyway I am hungering for a peep fix…

pfrosty I sent you a pm.

Oh, and for those asking about RC, and his wellbeing… he is still the man of the place and looked up to and admired by his twenty faithful ladies. It is a tough life, but someone has to do it.

Photograph was taken last week, when we still had a tad of the white stuff… bye bye winter!

Best to you and your birds,

RJ

I went to Cal Ranch yesterday and they had chick cages and everything ready for chicks coming at the end of February. Exciting, I can't wait!!!
And I was wondering if anybody had suggestions of good chick cages.
