Gus, LPeaslee, you guys are making me giggle over here with your rooster stories. I had a cockerel once who was a little too randy and tried to jump on a tom...... Yeah, that didn't go down well.

I'm hatching these beauties for the Easter Hatch A Long..I won them in the New Yrs. Day Hatch A Long. He has said that I can get them now instead of back then. This guy has won multiple prizes for his egg color. If I do well, if you are still interested, let me know. I know Lisa is getting some real pretty eggs now, bet she's set a few by now.Ours just crowed for the first time today! It was a burst of exuberance and he crowed about ten times in a row, more quietly. Then he was done, and not a peep since. I was glad to have an austrolorp roo. I'm sorry yours isn't one you can be happy about, Cynthia! On a funny note, I just looked out and saw him mate with one of my EE's, and she promptly chased him across the yard. He is such a tender flower!
In other news... I am just dying for some chicks having seen all these pictures on here. I'd love to have two or three marans. I found some cuckoo marans, but I don't love barred hens. Does anyone have any non-barred maran chicks they want me to buy?
I'd take some of those started pullets off your hand in a second. Unfortunately, I don't have a quarantine area large enough for chickens of that age. I always need to start with newly hatched chicks. Wish I could take some started hens.I have a young Breda fowl trio ( 9 mouths) available if someone would like to get started in this rare bred roo is black 1 hen black 1 hen blue
I also have a extra black copper marans rooster, and a wellsumer rooster available (going to freezer camp in a couple of weeks both hatched oct.
