hi peeps! its been a bit since i posted. Sounds like everyone is doing good and hatching lots of chicks so i thought i would share some of my little ones. I had 22 silkie/sizzle eggs in the incubator and didnt notice two fans had been unpluged and temps dropped to 95 in the bottom rack. I ended up with only 5 hatching.

you got some little cuties There I just love the little tops on them the little white one in the last picture I'm in love with. Congrats!

Well..look who I found out there .. have had a little one crowing as long as the other, you can hardly even hear this little guy. He came from my sizzle order for the New Yrs. Day hatch a long. Feet are fluffy! Head and muff is coming in. Soo pretty. Anyone interested in him?

Abko, I dunno? You could stick a wooden egg or a golf ball under her and see how she does, maybe. I never quite trust the flakey hens.

Hi Red! She's been sitting on a wooden egg and seems pretty happy with it. I'll probably just let her be. After hearing all of the horror stories from people that have let hens hatch I'm a little bit wary of doing that.

Well, I have had both sides of the coin with broodies. I have had hens that were great mothers and took good care of their brood, particularly my Wyandotte. Then I've had some that just weren't that great, but they weren't the brightest of hens, to begin with. If your girl stays on her wooden egg for more than a week, she might be okay with eggs. It's up to you.

Thank you, he sold yesterday! First day on ksl..ppu, but pretty sure he is coming after work today. Now, for that cute black, Herculese boy!

One of my wyandottes has been an awesome broody. She was a good, good mother too. Makes me wish she'd go broody, so I could hide this years new chicks under her. She really took the stress out of raising new chicks last year! I love that breed.

Gus, I hear ya on the Wyandottes. I have two that are sisters. Both have gone broody, and while the one was a pretty laid back mom, the other was very watchful and protective of her babies, though not mean. They are sweethearts.

The only bird I have in my flock that can compare to my black Wyandotte as a mother is my bronze turkey hen. Except she's super mean as a mamma. Ooh.
