Utah!

I was also wondering, where does TSC get their chicks from? I was in the one here in Logan yesterday and they couldn't tell me.

Are the cheaper, still air incubators that the feed stores have had lately any good? Would you get the egg turner that they sell separately? My daughter never asks for much but an incubator is her one birthday request this year.

The one I got this year at cal ranch is ok, the problem is the area right under the square shaped heater gets hotter and the outside of the bator gets colder. I have always preferred still air but these new ones have such a small square of heat I would get the forced air if I could do it over again, otherwise just keep your own thermometers in both areas--I don't put eggs directly under the heat square they just get too hot.

I have been borrowing the TSC bator from a friend this last couple of hatches..for the hatch a longs. I really like it. It has plastic all around it and keeps the humidity in real well.
I have the cheaper bator, just hatched 10 out of 12 that went into lock down. Not too bad. :)
I don't go with the turners, pretty much a personal preference. :)

Thanks, ladies! Are the CAL Ranch and TSC ones different? I can't remember now... This is the one I saw at TSC yesterday.

Yup the one on the bottom is just like my new one, small black box for a heater instead of the big heating element like the pic on the turner box above it, that looks like my old ones. I kind of like the old ones better....that small black box one just heats directly under it really good then the other areas are cooler---so the thermometer that is hooked to the thermostat seems to work pretty good but it heats depending on where you sit it in the bator, it will heat it too warm or cold so just be sure to use a few others to see the difference around the different areas for a still air and rotate the eggs really good . Then put the wired thermometer in a middle area between the very outside and center.. I avoid the very center directly under it then spread the eggs out in a square and they seem to be more consistently warm. Before when I filled it up the center ones were too hot and I lost most of those eggs then the very outside perimeter eggs hatched really late...then I started checking the temp fluctuations and realized what was going one. It works REALLY well as a hatcher, like Cynthia said, it holds humidity well and then the temps can be a tad low and its no prob. Mine might just be fluke too, but that's how it's been working in case yours does the same :D

Who was wanting a NN? I have one I can give up. :/ I love them all. Can't keep them all. No one knows how I feel!
I think it was Karen.

I know how you feel!!! I want to keep all my babies! I set 2 home with their new family yesterday and wanted to cry.
I keep telling myself just one more week, but I'm afraid if I wait too long then I'll really be too attached to let them go!

Ok..did Lisa say she likes this one? On the hatch a long so many people were not liking this one. Not sure why it would be much different..but the one from Cal Ranch is the one I like and use.
The one I like is the 4200..has the plastic around, holds the temp really well. Did note that the bottom of the bator was warmer, but I change my eggs around at least twice a day anyway in either bator. :) Don't get that one..right there!
