Golden Sexlink

Beautiful photo of the sexlink again..I put that under the photo. Go check once and a while now to see if she is in the photos of Golden Sexlinks when you google. They pick good photos, and rare ones for breeds. I think this one will go. :) I have a couple of Nankins on their.

My dog brought me her ball to throw but when I took it it was smooth and slimy. She had taken on of the eggs out of the nest box and decided it was her ball. I told her no and threw the egg away. Well no wasn't enough a minute later she brought me another one. Darn it this time it broke as she handed it to me and I got egg all over Boy was she in trouble I have an egg sucker

Funny story. I hatched out one random brown egg last year from my girls. The possibilities were GLW roo over GLW, BR, or Gold sexlink. The babe hatched, and matured to look more or less GLW. I assumed she was full blooded, since she had the golden lacing. But she just looks the tiniest bit off. I finally pinpointed it today, I kept expecting her feathers to normalize a bit more as she got older... but now, she is older. Ha ha ha She looks wyanxotte, but just a little something strange... Ha ha ha she is a sexlink GLW mutt, not a full GLW. I am so slow sometimes...

I confess, my sexlinks are my least favorite hens. They are mean, mean to my other hens. And it is like they went into this perpetual molt where they keep laying, and so they aren't growing their feathers back. I look for lice, and other issues to no avail. They are so mangy looking compared to my Wyandotte's, and EE's. They do lay a ton of huge eggs , though. So that's something good ha ha I wondered for a while if their nutrition is off, but my other hens are shiny, and look well. It's only the sexlinks.

Update on my crazy girl's hairdo. It's so cute but she can;t see straight in front of her anymore! LOL!

This was her chick pic. She was one of the chicks I got from Preston.

Unfortunately, the two legbars that I got a month ago both turned out to be cockerels. The breeder is taking them back this weekend. This 2nd batch of chicks I got has been rough! 4 out of 7 were cockerels. :( I think this really threw off the juju of the whole group. Even my sweet little grey girl that wanted held 24/7 and fell asleep in our hands all the time is skittish now. I'm hoping I'll be able to save the 3 pullets personalities once these last 2 cockerels leave this weekend.

MY GSL always look bad too...I figure they just put all their effort into those eggs and have nothing left for feather production and maintenance. I give them tons of extra protein too, still they look so ratty.

try feather fixer you can buy it at Cal Ranch I had a frizzled Americana that was pretty bald most of last summer. I put her on feather fixer and she was fully feathered in 3 weeks, It was amazing

UGH! The older girls are just fine since the husband built part of their run with a metal roof cover so they have a 5x10 area of dry ground to hang out in but I was hoping to put the 9 week old littles out in the run this weekend but that is too close of quarters for all of them since the Production Reds are still terrorizing them a little bit.
Not to mention I WANT TO PUT MY GARDEN IN!!!!

Wow, aren't you sorry you opened the door to my venting?
