Utah!

I mix my own chicken feed, and ferment it! My girls/guy love it, and my chicks who are four weeks old are huge for their age. I do a lot of fermenting for my family too, so doing the chicken feed was simple after all of that.
Good for you!
I need to learn about doing fermenting for my family. Havent quit gotten the taste of it myself, but the science is sound.
Perhaps you could share some secrets.

Nice! Couldn't ask for better looking air sacs. :)

Gus, I'd like to take you up on the lemon verbena. Are you sure you don't want anything in return? I have oodles of white rock cress. Edible succulent, drought tolerant ground cover. The elderly couple that had this house before my husband must have been gardeners, too. I keep finding all kinds of fun plants here.

Hi LadyIsadora :) I have three ducks.

Cynthia, well wishes to you my friend. Sorry you have to deal with that.

To whoever mentioned they found the orange thyme - thank you! I'm actually after orange mint, but I appreciate it all the same :)

Just a question to all you hatchers, sillycmoy made me think of this question. Do chicks that hatch before day 21 tend to be smaller than those that hatch on time? Just wondering.

I do feel like there is some corrilation between size of the breed of chicken to when they will hatch. Smaller breeds seem to hatch sooner than larger ones.

Red, I'll just happily give you some. :) It's sort of taking over my back yard ha ha ha And I have my hands full these days. I don't need anythingnin return. Thanks, though. Let me know when you want to grab it. P.s. My neighbors cat got the little Icee cockerel I hatched from your eggs. :( I chased it, but the poor little guy was a goner. I'm still mad/sad.

I am a grandmother again. My "Beauty" hatched out nine ducklings. "Sweet Pea" is due any day. "Merle" is not due until the end of May. BEI's are my favorite. I also picked up three Royal Palm poults and two Bourbon Reds. It's too easy to become an animal hoarder. It's a good thing I have my children to keep me in check.

Gus, so sorry about your cockerel. That's my main concern here if one of my hens go broody. Our cats love to go after birds of all kinds.

Anatidae, yaaay :) Have you ever had poults before? They're full of personality!

You are in good company here. ALL enablers, and no one will judge. The only people on earth that understand me I have met on here! Good friends

Does fermenting cause a strong smell? When my fodder is not draining well it starts to rot or ferment and the smell is terrible.
