Thanks for your help, friend!Honestly I do know more than 101 from selective breeding boa constrictors and leopard geckos, but I would need to check my book (21 Century Poultry Breeding) on feathered shanks. I'm not sure if they are dominant or incomplete dominant.![]()
Wow, she is tiny! You said she's a mutt?Your cochin is gorgeous, hope mine turns out to be a beautiful girl too. Here are some pics of the chicks when I just took them outside, decided to clean so it took a bit longer to get back. Here's the little thing in my hand. Boy or girl, these tiny things are adorable. As stated, this chick will be 4 weeks this Thursday.
Here is the same chick with a Salmon Favorelles. Not sure how old she is but she's getting her head feathers in.![]()
Just a pic of the tiny cutie just standing in a corner.
And here is that chick with a supposed Bantam Cochin (frizzled). She is supposed to be 6 weeks. Edit: Oh, and the ones in the background are the Black Australorps. I was told they were a month old when I got them, so they would be two months now, but... They're just starting to get their head feathers in. Edit2: These didn't upload properly or something. In order to see the first two pics as big click on the last on and just scroll back through them in the picture window.

I'm considering getting a few bantam size chickens. If you were going to get a roo and two hens and it were your only bantams, what would you get?
Keeping in mind I would love some cute eggs to feed the kids and would love to have a few crazy looking chickens around.
Gating factor: Would my LF beat up on them?
These were my Olive egger babies I got from you the first time I met you!!! Laverne and Shirley, I still have LaverneIf you have a LF rooster, you would want a chicken that can see to get out of the way. I love love the bantam cochins. I have a little white one right now. I have been letting her out, even with my rooster when I had him. The silkies and the Polish are darling, but they can have that big poof on top that will keep them from seeing what's going on around them if they free range. I am going out to get a photo of a silkie for someone, so will get a shot or two of her. They are darling..here is one of a black mama that I had..loved her. A very sweet broody, and mom..not saying that all are the same during that time. But all of my cochins so far have been good broody and moms.![]()
I was told Bantam Ameraucana (which I knew wasn't true) so I was hoping at least an Easter Egger... Note the distinct lack of peacomb.
Woops! Sorry Gus. I didn't see this until now. I was spraying the horses and ducks with the hose to cool them off. The Appaloosa loves it, and the ducks don't mind so long as it's a short shower![]()
