I have a lot of toddler socks around my house since I have 3 yr old twins so I decided to try one out as a no crow collar. It's working for now! He crowed all morning yesterday and I haven't heard him crow again since I put the sock on. I also bought 2" Velcro to make a tighter collar if this one stops working.

So... I couldn't help myself and got three Ameraucana chicks from Desert Springs (two wheaten and a blue wheaten?). We've had them in quarantine a week now and so far no problems... Except someone looks suspiciously like a rooster. They were straight run so, I expected as much considering my luck with roosters. Anyway, here are the babies.
Out for some playtime in the dog pen, gobbling up dirt. I brought in the dog we're trying to train not to chase them. He was pretty good but he definitely needs some work. He got put back when he pounced at them. He didn't understand why I was angry, but confusion is his general state of mind.


The suspected roo, in the pictures above he's the larger blue one.




I would love to see updates on everyone else's broods!

Great looking EEs! Is your dog curious or hungry?

Pure Wheaten Ameraucanas like yours are sexed by feather color at this age. and the blue is a blue wheaten rooster, 100 percent. The tan ones are always female, the boys turn blue or black. You will be able to tell if those two girls are Wheaten or Blue wheaten by the color on the ends of their wing tips and tail tips in another month or so. They stay tan, with the black or blue on tips...the boys turn more dominantly blue or black.

(BTW Christina has great stock, come from a very nice breeder, the eggs will be beautiful)

Does anyone want/need the Ameraucana rooster (or know someone that does)? I'd like him to go to someone that could use him for breeding. I paid $8 for him.

Oops! That was a complete rush error on my part. I meant no offense at all. I was not judging the stock I just missed the Ameraucana part and assumed they were EE without looking or reading. My apologies.

Now that I think about all the confusion about Ameraucanas and EE's and the way people harsh on each other over them the more I realize my effort at a compliment and funny comment about a dog would come across wrong. I should have slowed down on that one. I really apologize and did not mean to offend and honestly was not judging the birds in a negative way at all. I just wanted to make that clear.

I was just letting eggsbert know there was no doubt about that boy due to the plumage lol...also I helped chicken train some of that parent stock to Christina, so I was just letting you guys know they are the real deal Pawtraitart... Hope I did not come across as being chicken snobby lol. All is good, I honestly had to read your comment back to see what the fuss was, then I saw the EE part Now I get it

I have some of these in my garage...got 4 chicks from pawtraitart 6 weeks ago and I ended with 2 wheaten roos, 1 blue wheaten roo, and a blue wheaten girl. Look about the same age as these. Long way to drive for one girl, Boo! My luck though. They sure lay pretty eggs but girls are hard to get your hands on <3

Anybody on here want any chicks? I am coming to Diana's 6/24. I have plenty of FBCm rooster chicks, a splash Marans roo chick that is gorgeous, (boys free of course) and some straight run of various types from my silkie/showgirl/frizzle project. I kept way too many and better sell off some! Some partridge chicks that are really stripey and cute, perfect feet and toes, not as much skull bumps on the ones I am selling, but the crests come in nice and fluffy. Partridge showgirl....maybe two...a silver partridge showgirl...a smooth black showgirl that is getting about 8+ weeks old...a couple frizzled black silkies. A very frizzled black showgirl with a tan bowtie that is gorgeous I can't use it for breeding because of the tan leakage. She/it has a really curly fuzzy head, getting older---prob 10 or more weeks. All pretty fuzzy and cute. $15 for her, the rest, less--$5-$10 is just pm me if you are interested, I can go get pictures. I could meet in the Taylorsville area at 6:30 6/24.
