The tail should be open and kind of in a teepee shape according to SOP. It shows a wide back end which is good for egg and meat production of course.sidewing, what does .. pinched mean? I haven't owned a rooster for too long. Now considering keeping my Blue Copper M. to see if the collar will work on him. He isn't crowing too much right now, and not very loud, so I have a while before I need the collar, I hope! Man, last rooster didn't crow until he was 7 months old! Started breeding right away though once he started. This one won't for quite a while, only about 3 months old.
Pinched tail??
It depends on the breed I'm sure. A dual purpose breed probably needs a wide tail, where a Sarama is probably different. I'm not sure on other SOP, I'm just trying to understand Marans and Wyandotte and they both like an open tail. I'm still very new to it and just learning.I thought that might be what you meant. So, for show they like it open? I like it pinched on a rooster..... open for the girls.![]()

Thanks! I'm hoping it widens back out as he grows and he relaxes a little around the ladies. He is honestly trying to court the ladies every second he is not sleeping.Well, at any rate, I think your boy is looking good..he has some more growing to do..you just wait and see how nice he will look!
