Sigh, is the season to get rid of roos, I think my light brahma has to go. I hate to see him have to go to someones freezer as he is sweet and not very loud but he is bumbling around learning how to mate on my favorite hen and is traumatizing her far too much.

It's a sad day for us all who must part with our beloved roosters.

EDIT: Actually it's pretty sad for me in general. I'm moving in with my aunt to look after her and have to leave all my chickens behind.
I will only be living 15 minutes away though so I'll be visiting them once a week or so to clean out their coop and snuggle them (even though they hate it).

You may have some hope with Sidewing..we live in a neighborhood that has a lot of barking dogs and only a noise restriction but not an actual rooster restriction. I have not had anyone near me complain about my roos crowing at all. Hopefully his kids wanting a bantam will sway him to pick yours up

What city do you guys live in, maybe I need to move there...

I mean honestly, a crowing rooster isn't any louder than: barking dogs, people riding ATVs up and down our street, our neighbors kid screaming while they play, my neighbors screaming at each other in the middle of the night, the fireworks that go one from 6pm to 2am in July, somebody's pumped up truck revving up and down the street, the helicopters doing their practice runs super close to the ground, the low flying recreational planes flying overhead (because I live next to an airport)- Need I go on? My city is NOISY.

I hear ya (pun intended) We are in a portion of Herriman that allows a good number of chickens but no rooster resrictions as of yet. They did just ammend our ordinances to be a little more restrictive or at least vague as to what will be tolerated, but so far not an outright ban. I have spoke to one of my neighbors about the fact that I ended up with a rooster I am going to try to keep, he said "wont bother me, you put up with my 10 yelling kids just fine" lol.

I've almost made it over there to Herriman, but have never actually gotten that far. Been to the far end of Daybreak, seems pretty nice out there. Out of the way, but most of the time that's a good thing.

red, do you have a wire cage..is that what you use as a broody buster?   I have one that I really like.

Yep! It's actually a large wire dog kennel that I'll put up on cinder blocks. I anticipate the results.

I hope I can too, he's just the sweetest little guy. Doesn't kick or scratch when I hold him, doesn't run away when I go to pick him up, puts up with me grabbing and poking his wattles and comb. If only he didn't crow.
We'd try a crow collar if we didn't have a cop as one of our neighbors and weren't already on shaky ground with our neighbors.

That's terrible about the Icelandics. As I said before, if I could have roosters I'd have totally taken at least one from you. Alas, city coding says roosters are a no-go. Even crowing hens have to be removed.
When I move (for real) I'm going to seriously look into houses zoned for agriculture or look for cities with fewer regulations. I'd really like to breed me some chickens.

Also, good luck on breaking your broody hens.

Well, KSL was a bust for me. All I got were people who couldn't come and wanted pictures so they could mysteriously evaporate afterward. Bleh. I'm done. I'll just waste a day processing the birds myself. Good golly, Miss Molly!

Hello all! We just moved to Utah from Oregon. I raise large fowl Salmon Faverolles, and bantam buff Faverolles. I'm past president of the Faverolles Fanciers of America, and have raised Favs for about 7 years.
I've also raised large fowl and bantam Ameraucanas, bantam Sumatra, and Japanese in the past, as well as several other varieties of Faverolles.
We're in Levan.
