Utah!

I'm really starting to like my egg basket! Three years of breeding, hatching, and buying is finally paying off!
That is beautiful!

Beautiful! I want a chocolate egg and a pink one next I think.
I have some Bev Davis Marans chicks I'm raising that should be laying by spring if you are interested. I will post pics of the eggs when they start laying. Hopefully they are as dark as the eggs they came from.

Nice eggs Ace, someday we will have to hook up and talk chicken, I think you are pretty close to me. Anyone hear how Lisa's procedure went…

Cool mornings and warm days, I can deal with a lot of this, plus I sleep better, which is always good.

Best to all and your birds,

RJ

That is awesome Sundance, I like folks whom pitch in and help, be it running the table top show or sweeping the aisles, anyone whom helps put on a good show is all right with me. I am just giddy with anticipation for this event. SO the DW and I will definitely look you up. I just missed you last year at the Salt Lake county fair. Perhaps this year we will have better luck. AND while I have your ear, I wish you well with your horse at the Utah State fair. I think that is a good thing… for the public and the exhibitor. I followed with some sadness, your horse that could not see. I believe my Jack is a grandson of Jackson, I have four hens and the one rooster. He thinks he is the biggest rooster on the place. I got him from Liz last fall, the DW likes the wee ones.

Best to your birds and horse,

RJ

so RJ since you have seramas and are going to the show why not bring them and show them at the show. its lots of fun

Well… I do love the four hens and "Jack" but I let them free range with the rest of my birds and they wear the bottoms off of their wing feathers, along with other blemishes and such that occur in a free range flock. Jack pulls a lot of neck feathers from all the hens he can catch. I've seen him go after my RIR's, he truly does believe he is the king of the yard, and we just let him think so. While they are fun and interesting birds, and do stand so straight and tall, my enjoyment of them is in watching them just be birds. Showing is something that is not important to me at this time. But I do like a bird with good conformation and spunky style.

I suppose I really have no idea how to show, perhaps I'll learn. I am always up to learning new things.

Best to you and your birds,

RJ

I would like to show next year. I would have to take a few good ones aside since I have a roo. He get's roughed up by the GSL's and my Gold Cuckoo Maran and others get roughed up by him. Not bad, but enough that I would not show them.

Lovely! I remember when mine used to look like that...

I used to have a pink egg layer. Alas! I gave her to a neighbor who dearly wanted some laying hens. She was killed by a raccoon a few weeks later :( She had the most gorgeous pink-brown eggs!

Sundance, what breed is your horse? If DH and I can make it next week, I'll look for yours.
