Utah!

Achieved a life goal today: had to trim the poof on my nine-week-old silkie mix's head so "she" could see. (Actually, my sweet husband trimmed and I held). I've always wanted a chicken with a poofy poof. Here she is pre-trim:

I took pity on her after she ran straight into the leg of the swing set when out in the yard.

Still have a while to go before I achieve "talked to the wrong end of the chicken" like Lisa

Wow, that Ameraucana rooster was gorgeous, too bad you couldn't keep him!

Well, I've tired! I have been hatching since last night..no sleep last night because I like to snatch the hatched babies out of the bator and put them into the brooder right away so they don't mess with the other eggs. Here are photos of a few before they started popping out like pop corn. Some of Lisa and my favoities..EE's and OE's, with lots of muff and fluff going on!

These aren't all the way dry here, should see them now! I have 16 so far, more on the way!

Wow no wonder your tired. Very cute chicks. Are you going to set more eggs or are you done for awhile?

I wasn't going to set any eggs until spring but I won some Bielefelder eggs on EBay. So I'm going on my second try at incubating.

My plan for chickens right now is the breed Cream Legbar and Bielefelder chickens. I like the idea of auto sexing. But I so new to chickens I haven't even got my first egg yet. I tell my 2 Black Australorps they are free loaders. I got them in early May. So I could change my chicken plan again.

Well, I guess we are all in trouble!!! Thanks for the advice. I only have the one hen, and her lacing to me seems gorgeous. She is right around that 18 month mark, and recently got over a bad molt.

I'll try to get some more pics. Are the SLW threaders active/willing to critique?
I have not seen any critiquing there yet, but I will be interested to see if folks do if you ask.

Ho-lee smokes, Cynthia! You are inundated with babies! I'm glad that so many are hatching well for you.

Rc, yaaaay for haircuts!

Ok, here we go. The forecast says snow tonight in Tooele and it feels pretty nippy outside. We'll see what tomorrow morning brings.

Left one of our fresh eggs on the stairs while we finished up chores... Then it mysteriously went missing.
Turns out that little critter in the background not only has a taste for chickens, but fresh eggs as well. What a naughty little girl.

Oh my goodness is right red...I have a total of 26 babies, of 29 that went into lock down!

Anyone wanting to add some color to their nest boxes this come spring/summer?
