Oh man, how did you know?! I have been so tired. Did you get that duck's foot taken care of yet? If you still need me to do that, we need to make a time! It's snowing here now, not sure how the weather is going to be the next few days, can't remember how far you are?

i think its always funny to see young birds reactions to seeing snow the first time. of course i dont blame them for their reactions. and its never fun walking barefoot through snow so i understand.

I can only imagine. LOL So much work and stress and happiness ;-) Your babies are so adorable.

Elvira is still limping around pretty bad, her foot is still infected. It does not seem to be getting better. Though we put a lot of time and effort into it (Thanks RED!) I dont think we got nearly all the necrotic tissue or the infection out. I cannot help her on my own. I had my hand x-ray last week, but still have not heard back from the doc, still no relief. I cant hold a scalpel, I cant even open a screen door without difficulty. I cant help her. I am trying to come to tearms with loosing her at this point.
If you are willing and able, I will come whenever you have time, if you are willing to take a bash at it. Except today. My Hubby has a procedure this morning and we will probably be at the hospital most of the day, recovery all evening. Im in Kearns so it will take me an hour to drive to you. I sent my phone number in a PM.

The best thing you can do until it's fully cleaned out, is get some anti-biotic into her! Soak her foot when you can, with epsom salt, if you have had it open, maybe you can soak most of the infection out. That plug needs to come out though. Darn, today would have been good, tomorrow isn't, moving a piece of furniture to Payson, and getting some chicks to a new owner as well. If she is holding on by Sat...get her here! I'll pm you my address. And my phone number.

spent a little time today getting my coop ready for winter. its cold out for sure. but my coop is warm. and i got my first egg from my brahma today. good size egg for a new layer. she sure took her time laying but i knew it would be longer than a lot of other breeds. been impressed with brahmas so far. been happy with all my new girls. and i tell you my austrolorp has become one of my favorites
