Yes, I am with Lisa and the 'others' lets give eggs away and write it off on the taxes. You also need them to keep the others 'warm' in the cold weather usually works as well, if needed.

I was at the local Home Depot today, and told my husband I wanted to wander over and look at their culled lumber. They had a whole bunch of pressure treated 2x4x8s at 70% off! I went through and picked all that I thought would be usable in a coop/run and picked up 24 of them for about $1.50 apiece! I ended up having to wait for my husband to drive home and switch vehicles since we hadn't been anticipating the lumbar purchase, but it was well worth it!

i love sales like that! congrats. btw if you are looking for plain chicken wire if you need a bunch check in the cement section of lowes or home depot, you can get bigger rolls for a much better deal :) just something i learned. of course chicken wire is not the most secure stuff but its good for some situations :)

Happy New Years. I hope you all had a great holiday season.

For Christmas I got an awesome flashlight for candling eggs. I had planned to just buy chicks at IFA this spring, but now I'm rethinking since I have to try out my candler :D and since I use my broody to raise chicks anyway, she might as well hatch some chicks while she's at it. Anyone have experience with bielefelders? Waiting to figure who's a he and who's a she drove me nuts this year, so I was wondering about trying an autosexing breed.
